Default Hpt positive, blood test negative

    Hi all,
    This is my first post...
I have been TTY for 6 months, and I ovulated 2 and a half weeks ago.
I took a hpt on Tuesday and got a very faint positive, and then on Wednesday I got a negative blood test (doctor said he couldn't tell either way??) on the way home from the doctors I got another hpt and again I got another faint positive.
I read that this can happen with a chemical pregnancy, but I wonder if that was the case, should I be bleeding by now?
I was very disappointed with the blood test as I have been so tired and extremely moody (poor df!) and I thought if I already had these symptoms it should show up in a blood test.
Now I have 3 days of Xmas obligations and then going on holidays and I don't know when I'll get another chance to do a blood test. I am about 5 days late, and have so many symptoms, but it is possible that my hpt is more accurate than the blood test? I dont see how that would be possible?!
If anyone has had a similar experience I'd love to hear it, I'm soo depressed and tired and not knowing if I am or not is killing me!

I wish I knew what to say BlueBird88, I'm so sorry you're going through this. You don't know, the doctor doesn't know and at this time of year where everything is complicated. I hope you get your BFP for sure.

The fact that your doctor said he can't tell either way is pretty telling. In my journey I have figured out (hooray!!) that different doctors and specialists and obgyns have different opinions on hcg levels that equal pregnant. Technically anything over 5 is pregnant as a non pregnant woman is below that number. Others won't confirm your pregnant till a much higher number (one of my doctors was 25).... I'd call your doctor and ask what your hcg number was. There is a huge range in hcg levels when pregnant, and when I have had my pathology levels given to me the lowest number is 5 for positive.

Hope that helps. All the very best xox

I agree with Rach, each doctor interprets HCG results differently.
My first HCG was 96 and my doctor said he didn't think my pregnancy was viable and 4 days later it was 590 and he still thought it was too low and didn't think it would last, I am now just over 34 weeks pregnant.

Fingers are crossed that your results turn out the way you want them to. Good luck :-)

My sister inlaw kept getting blood results in the early stages where her doctor would say "no your not pregnant" but like you she would get a faint positive. Her baby girl is almost 1 now. Maybe you are just a bit to early. I would wait a few more days until you get a strong positive on the hpt then get another blood test. All the best x

Thank you for your encouraging words!
I just got an extremely quick bold positive on my hpt, so I'm very happy, and now confident that I am pregnant.

    Thanks so much!
