I'm nearly 8 weeks pregnant and we got a text from DF's Ex last night to say that SD4 may have the measles and is going to the doctors today.
Trying not to sound dumb but how certain will the doctors be of what type of measles they would be??
How do I make sure that they are sure?!
As its our time with Sd tomorrow and I'm scared that she may have the rubella type! :/

Because measles is a notifiable disease I'm sure that they have to have a blood test done straight away if they suspect it. If it is measles everyone in contact should be properly notified. This is what my doc told us when a friends baby had possible measles.

Out break of measles in the last month or so, in the ACT, centred around a school.
15 cases or so, a few hospitalised.

My 18month old had measles 2 weeks ago.
Being pregnant, i talked to the doctor about it, and it would have only have been an issue if i had had the baby within 2 weeks of him getting measles.

I would stay away honestly.
We had a rubella scare with my DS a couple weeks ago.
However, my dad being a Dr, makes midnight freakouts a little easier to handle
The biggest concern is in the first trimester, up to 15 weeks, when the brain and heart are forming, as rubella will cause defects. Being over that, made me feel a bit better. He ended up having roseola, and I had to be a little cautious around him anyway.
I would rather be safe to be honest. Although, I was also warned at my initial Dr's appt, that I have no immunity to rubella, so I was probably more concerned that most. Goodluck!

Yes I'd rather be safe then sorry! Especially being so early in the pregnancy. I have had my blood work done to say I have an antibody for it but I can't remember if it's a strong immunity or weak so I think I'd rather not risk it!
