Default Who does a good breakfast in Melbourne?

I kept getting told to eat breakfast at this place or that place - that they are awesome or have great coffee etc??

But nope, nothing - they all fail to be great.

    Anyone?

I am a big fan of the 5 star hotel buffet breakfast. Mmmmmmm.

Do you mean the CBD? Try the European or Cumulus Inc.

Montania up the street is great, but I hardly qualify Ferntree Gully as inner suburbs.

How longs a piece of string?? It really depends what you like, I think every suburb has at least one awesome place for breakfast.... 5 star hotels I agree, Park Hyatt on my honeymoon was good. We go locally though, they do home made hash browns, poached eggs are always perfect and the bread is homemade. Another place I like where I used to live did spanish baked eggs omg.. drool.. if you haven't tried them do so. It had baked eggs, chorizo, feta, spinach and lots of other stuff.

So true, cause I wouldn't go near the mass produced buffet stuff put up in the big hotels - that for me is purely reserved for business travel. Melbourne has an unbelievable amount of awesome local cafes...

ok so CBD or inner north (carlton out to thronbury/preston)??

I guess im just sick of going to these 'funky' cafes that are shyte, cost a fortune, staff are rude, the decor is 'funky retro' which is just a buzz word for cheap, unmatched furtiture that smells like op shops.

I just want well cooked food - eggs cooked as requested and all the food is hot. I hate paying like $10 for eggs adn then $2.50-$3.0 for every single side. I hate home made baked beans and home made hash browns unless the are actually cooked nicely.
