Wow...havnt been on for a few days and find this

This thread was never intended to turn nasty.

Saying people should not be having children is pretty harsh and judgemental IMO.

BTW - What is the issue with parsley? Kind of freaking out here... I ate a fair bit last week in a salad. I have never heard anything about parsley been harmful

I read that parsley stimulates menstruation - I guess by proxy that might mean it can increase risk of miscarriage? I remember drinking tons and tons of the stuff in the hopes that it would make AF hurry up when we were waiting to TTC lol. (It didn't work so I wouldn't stress).

It's not mentioned in the food authority booklet for pregnant women so I'd say its not a problem in the normal quantities we would have it. I think its the seeds or in concentrated form that it can be a problem but seriously this could be an old wives tail. I'm sure if it was a risk we would all be told about it given it's so common.

    Are you over 12 weeks?

This is my third pregnant chistmas in 5 years & I eat everything! I've already been enjoying rum balls And I cannot wait for cold ham! Yummy yum yum! And mum's stuffing mmm. And let's not forget dollops of brandy butter & brandy sauce on the flaming pudding mmmm!!! Oh and a glass of champas with strawberry puree ... Yum! I always allow myself one glass when preg over that period.

Just use common sense ... Ie don't eat if been left out all day etc or you don't trust the source.

    Enjoy!

I think the garlic alone would ward off nasties

I would have been 13 weeks when I ate it. Just done a google and most info says that it should be avoided in large quantities and that the amounts in salads/cooking should be safe.... However I read another article that said it should be avoided all together as it can cause birth defects and miscarriage! It was probably about 1/4 cup in a salad shared with hubby... Wonder if that's classified as a large quantity? I will not be making tabouli as planned this week.

I haven't had any spotting/cramping and I have been feeling bubs move so hopefully it didn't cause any harm. Glad it happened after all the major organs had formed.

I'm going to try and not stress but will quiz the doctor when I take Dd on Wednesday.

    Who would have thought?

Found this on why parsley is bad

    http://www.pregnancy-info.net/parsle...l-dangers.html

then found this as a contradiction...

    http://www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au/b..._and_diet?open

(Parsley is listed as a food with good folate levels)

I think its safest to avoid it! I wont be eating anything with significant amounts of it from now on.
