Default What is a good long range baby monitor?

I want to get a monitor that I can take with me when im outside doing gardening or down the back yard etc.

What is the normal distance range on most monitors and how do they perform when taken outside?

Does anybody know if there is a particular monitor that covers longer distances? Lets say ill be up to 500m from the baby?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

We have an Oricom 200 which is lovely and clear on our half-acre block (maybe up to 100m away from baby).

Initially we had a fisher price sound'n'lights monitor and it was terrible. It advertised that it would cover over 100m (I think it was 140m? from memory) but the static was horrendous no matter how far away you were.

I think most monitors max-out at somewhere between 100-200m.

We have an Avent monitor (can't recall the model, sorry) that has a 300m range. Very clear and we've had no issues with it.

Orion I think that's the brand. We have the basic one and it's brilliant. Dh tested it one day and walked to the park next door and he could still hear everything clear as day. It started beeping when he went out if range. But it was a fair distance. Great monitor!!! Only $40 now on special too.
