fortitude... bugger... so sorry to hear that your frostie failed ...always our biggest nightmare... my FET I had 3 high grade ones and really only one defrosted well the others were a bit poorly.
As to the 1 or 2 debate it is hard in your case with your medical history... sure the chances of twins is low with the over 40s but it happens.... I guess that you just have to do some research... your eggs seem good... maybe try again with a single blast transfer and see how it goes

Fort - blow! What a bugger!
Before conceiving with DD I was really keen for twins, get it over and done with, so she was 1 of the 2 embryos transferred. This time around I said to DH if the 2 embryos were top high quality I was only going to put one back because we have DD (who is 20 1/2 months turning 16, or I should say she is starting her terrible 2's early, hard bloody work). Still there is that risk that twins could be on the cards, and if that were the case I would have to seriously consider an overseas Ophir because I know that it would be so hard, especially since DH works long hours, his parents are in their 80's live over East, my parents are in mid 60's but to busy to help out, and not much support there on. I am jumping the gun, I need a BFP first! Anyway I thought you might like to hear why I did 2 ET.

I'll just keep planting the idea on DH and am thinking I might ring the FS and ask her thoughts. Maybe try one last single transfer this next cycle and if no + outcome then try for 2? If DH will agree.

I am feeling pretty crushed, this IVF journey is hard. It was funny though, when the FN rang she said "I notice you have stim cycle paperwork here, have a think and let us know if you want to go ahead" Immediately I said "Yes, we want to go ahead". I might be sad, I might be crushed... but I am not giving up anytime soon! LOL If anything it strengthens my resolve to keep trying.

In the back of my mind I am also looking to the future- maybe donor eggs? maybe donor embyros? maybe adoption. Any which way I will do all I can to make my dream come true.

Tens2many it's a bit hard to say 2 days transfer. Your poas may show a positive but that could just be from all the hormones pumped into your body, they are not accurate so ignore it. I got a bit of reflux when I got preggers and I had cramping like aunt flo was on her way and a negative poas, you have to be patient, it's hard I know but necessary.

Fortitude there is always a slight possibility that you might have twins the one blast transfer is probably the best idea. It's always good to have your mind further into the future and keep your options open. As for donor eggs, it's cheaper to do a SA donor egg cycle than an ivf cycle here but you don't get the Medicare rebate and you have to pay for a holiday on top. It's just a really tough decision to give up on your own eggs.

I am getting excited as my specialist appointment gets closer, I said I wouldn't go back to SA to do another donor cycle, but, Until I got sick, I loved being pregnant and I find myself warming back up to the idea of going again, and hubby is really keen on doing another round. So looks like if my egg doesn't defrost or work, we will be heading back to SA at the end of the year probably best do go whilst I am on maternity leave.

Good luck to those who are I their 2ww and about to be in their 2ww

Its a hard decision to make but once made you won't look back. My boy is like my own he may not have come from my egg, but I gave birth to him.
Fortitude here is the link I posted earlier for emski72. My second post in this thread gives Some info. You can look at the agencies websites too, Nuture, baby2mom, gift of life, global egg donations. Good luck with your transfer fingers crossed you won't need to go down the donation route.

I see you have had pre eclampsia, is there anything special that you are doing to help withh future pregnancies?

Thanks for the info. appreciated, hope I won't need it but good to know options.

I saw the professor and he is supportive as I have lost alot of weight since then.
I am on clexane (due to a previous blood clot) but have read that it can be used (with some research supporting/ other research mixed) to control pre eclampsia. I will continue on it until birth. So maybe look up clexane use?
I ended up on blood pressure meds last time- and all of mine were premmie.
