Hi ladies, I had a busy weekend. Saturday we went to release my friends ashes at a little beach town north of Perth, very final and sad, she was 42...brought me back to earth to realize how lucky and thankful the life I have.
I got AF this morning, and go to have final BT. I'm going to ask if I can go straight into another cycle, but I think they will tell me to wait and make an appmt with FS at day 21, grrr. If I do that DH will be away on fishing trip so will need to freeze swimmers and do it along. DD crying so will finish post later. Xxx
    ....

Well back from BT, asked nurse re starting IVF this cycle a big fat NO, so FS appmt on 11 June, unfortunately my usual FS is away that week so asked to be put on his cancellation list for previous week...Looks like next cycle DH will be most defiantly away, funny to think he won't be here when HOPEFULLY my eggs will be fertilized. Going to book DD into Daycare an extra couple of days after ET, I had better ring now...things we have to organise, with the risk that the dates will he out of wack!

FORT- unreal news about your diamond emby's, so happy for you!

Micca - sick DD is not fun, things must turn around for you very soon!

Hi Anxious, sorry to hear about your weekend events, yes a big wakeup call. Makes us all realise that every minute is a gift.

It is all well and good to wait but when you have to wait it means only 50% of the year is usable without FET. Which seems like madness for us oldies. So I agree- grrrr!

    AFM
    6/6 embies now at day 3. 2 x 7 cells and 4 x 8 cells.
    (My dancing embies...)

Hope I get some really good blasts for ET Wednesday. (They will only transfer 1 due to my antenatal history and the increased risk associated with twins for me.)
    BT tomorrow.
I start progesterone gel tonight, then morning and night until I am told otherwise.
Not really looking forward to the 'feeling pregnant symptoms' from the gel- will have to tell poor brain "This is the gel not necessarily the real deal".
Fingers crossed I won't get the symptoms of morning sickness from that gel. Can you get the whole nausea thing?

my results in 6weeks pregnant figures
    hcg 117 (prior 135)

    P4 63 (prior 140)
so miscarrage is on its way... probably over the weekend...

Im off this week as DD has bronchiollitis and is pretty sick.. so doctor said she would not be able to attend daycare probably not until next week.... sort of good in that it may help me kick this evil sore throat... but bummed that I loose a huge chunk of income that I really need...
My sorethroat remains but I might start some antibiotics I got today... and I have some echhinacia stuff too
    .

So a bit more of a pity party.... I was going to have nanchos... but forgot to buy the ingredients sigh.... might have to get some sour cream...lol...

Micca- was thinking about you today, how disappointing the chemical pregnancy must be not just emotionally but financially with the cost of IVF so high.

Leanne- you were also in my thoughts- such a long road before you can tackle a cycle again, it must be incredibly frustrating when the clock seems to tick so loudly over 40.

Wannabe- how are those twins? I keep you and them in my thoughts often.

Anxious- it sure sucks that they make us oldies wait when time ticks. Grrrr Weird to possibly become UTD when DH is away fishing... LOL

AFM Started my crinoline gel. No side effects- yet. My Embryo Transfer is tomorrow- very nervous as won't know what blasts/grades until I get there. Keep me in your thoughts tomorrow. The scientist said she will show me it/them whatever is there in a photo/ microscope image. Won't know for sure until tomorrow what is what- but hoping based on 6/6 3 days that at least 3 made it to 5 days. They will transfer one due to my shocking pregnancy history as twins seriously increased my antenal risks. But now I keep thinking wouldn't 2 be better? More chance? But I guess it is cycle 1, and the FS said if it wasn't taking after a while they might consider 2 at a later time. We will be freezing any 'spares'.
Suddenly the possibility that I might actually become pregnant excites me and makes me tear up yet at the same time the possibility of BFN is higher so I must prepare for that more based on percentages.
Any post trasnfer tips I need to know?

    How is everyone in general?

Fortitude– you are going so well for your first cycle. For your first time and your history…I would go with one embryo. ET Tips - I always have acupuncture pre and post transfer and again when embryo should be implanting - listen to positive visualisation at both sessions and every day during the 2WW. The visualisations always help me to focus instead of stress. What time is your ET tomorrow? You will be in my thoughts.

Micca– so sorry hun...I wish things could be so very different. Wrap yourself and DD in cotton wool for the week. Take care.

Leannep– Yes, my hair started to fall out on DHEA…I believe it is very common. I also started to get the odd hair on my chin too…but stopped when DHEA stopped.

Anxious- Sorry to hear of your BFN…take care of yourself. My DP works at the mines, so he has not been around for a few cycles…we have had to freeze his swimmers too. Sounds like you are already pretty ready for your next cycle.

    Wannabb– how are you coping?

    Lilbirdy– how are you?

Wanabemum– Welcome….it is a very supportive and informative thread. Human Growth Hormone (Saizen) is probably the major contributor to the extra $2000…it is approx $300 per injection. Your FS will most likely prescribe it to you at various stages….mine was at Day 21, 2, 4 and 6. I agree with your comment that IVF is not only the hardest thing but also the most complicated thing to work out...especially if you don’t have a medical/clinical background, as I don’t…..just when I think I have a good understanding of it, something new comes up and I have to get my head around it again!

    AFM
FS is still waiting on the follow up letter from the specialist I saw for my low positive ANA before he will give me my protocol for my next FET. So I am in a bit of a holding pattern at the moment. Currently home with a cold….yuk.

Wannabb you mentioned a book a little while ago….did you say that it was by Alan Beer?

I continue with acupuncture and on herbs, so hopefully when I do cycle again, everything will be nicely plump and healthy!

thanks leanne for the well wishes...
as for the hair falling out... I found that when I was on 75mg my hair just came out in clumps... I felt like a chemo patients... but when I dropped it back to 50mg it stopped... also might be worth getting your hormones checked especially the testosterone ..as if it is too high it can cause this as well as impact on egg quality

sunny... great to hear that you are maintaining the healthy diet... mine has gone to crap...lol... lets hope that this next go is the sticky one... my only suggestion if you are not doing it is to start 10mg prednisone with AF and then take 25mg prednisone the day prior to transfer and continue for 5 days after...then go back to 10mg until beta, as well as aspirin and clexane.

    Fortitude
.. lets hope you have some lovely blasts..you are doing great

wanabub... thinking of you and the twins I hope that they are growing ok.

well Im off for a nana nap... DD was up every hour last night... coughing and crying so Im shattered.. she has just gone down now... my diet has gone to the crappers.. so I am going to improve it next week I promise..lol...
going to order all the vitamins and dhea today... more $$$$$.... and will have to think about acupuncture again soon...
one half of me would love to just take nothing but I know that because of my age I need all these extras...
    anyway off to nap.

Micca, I'm so sorry. There are no yardsticks of 'bad' in this journey but getting a BFP and then a chemical has to be up there with the most disappointing and upsetting outcome. I hope next time is your time. Hope also DD gets better soon & you can catch up on some sleep.

    Fortitude
, yes, I'd have thought if you had 6/6 going well at day 3, you're well on the way to a few nice blasties. It's always nerve wracking turning up not knowing what news they have for you. I always liked to rest after transfer if possible but it's not a must-do, you can go straight back to work or home or whatever, it's nothing more than a pap smear. I also had accupuncture on some cycles pre and post, I will never know if that helped. And, I'm really sorry don't take this the wrong way coz I'm a silly old hand ... but I got a giggle that you're on crinoline gel. Be careful with administering that !! (might need to google but it's called crinone). By the way, I never had any side effects from crinone.

Leanne, as others have said, yes, hair falling out is a side effect of DHEA. I have also heard skin can suffer a bit too with breakouts etc. Sorry to hear that's happening but hopefully it will all be worth it.

Sunny sorry you've got a cold, boo !! Hope you can get back on the horse soon with your next cycle.

    Hi to everyone else ....
