Thanks for your thoughts everyone, appreciate it heaps. You ladies are GREAT!
Getting very nervous about the actual procedure and of course the unknown.
On a plus, at least I had a night without any injections at all!
(I had to skip the clexane for the procedure and the other ones are done).

Will post tomorrow with an update. Hope they can tell me how many egg straight away.

Mica, chocolate brownies, bring it on, pity I'm in Perth, we could of watch a sloppy film and stuffed our face! I made a nice warming chicken and veg soup, not too bad, followed by a block of chocolate!
Lea, I did stop meds, but you scared me a bit so quickly took my cardiprin and prednisolone, but skipped pregnyl and pessaries, bad girl i know!
actually got totally motivated this morning and took DD for a 5km pram jog, felt good after doing a lot of nothing the past month...Another sign I'm not preggers!
I'm going to get another kidney test, I reckon that was related to my horrendous back pain I had for the week after ET, I think the high dose of gonal did me some damage this time around.
fortitude- all my luck is being sent your way tomorrow x

    Default hello everyone

    Hi all

Im 42 and just finishing another failed IVF yesterday.

Micca I went through a miscarriage at 8 wks so I send out a big hug your way. Thanks for sharing all the extra things you have been doing and taking. I have booked myself in for acupuncture today as well as buying all these supplements. Hey anything that may help and if it doesn't it certainly won't hurt

May I ask some more questions of the group, if anyone can help?

My specialist has put me through the same IVF ICSI antagonist cycle (3 times now) with gonal f. I have asked if I could try something different as this doesn't seem to be working and I am running out of time and money. She called me to say that next time she would add a human growth hormone and change the gonal F to puregon and it would cost me approximately an extra $2000. Has anyone heard of this before? Do we know if it works?

Im in Sydney but I also contacted Monash IVF as I read that they have a new breakthrough in chromosome testing that may help older women. Once again this will cost - approximately $3500 from memory. Does anyone have any ideas about this?

Alternatively am I better off playing the numbers game and finding a cheaper clinic? I currently am about $3500-$4000 out of pocket each time I try which limits the number of times I can do this and puts a lot of pressure on me. If I found a cheaper clinic I could increase the number of cycles I can do. Has anyone tried this approach? How have you found it?

Im willing to travel and do anything, go anywhere, pay as much as I can and then some, put the time aside and basically do what it takes I am just finding this whole IVF thing not just the hardest thing but also the most complicated thing I have ever tried to work out. So thanks for reading even if you don't come up with any suggestions it is good to air!

fortitude..thinking of you today and hope that the egg pick up went well......

    wanabemum.
...welcome to our lovely group... ivf is certainly an expensive hobby ..
your cheapest option in sydney is the westmead fertility centre which is run out of the westmead hospital... they have a very low out of pocket expense of around $800 pre safety net and about $300 post safety net, they have no charges for anaesthetic or freezing. they have a very good lab and a very very good success rate... Id consider it myself if I was a few years younger.. here is their address.

    anxious.
...yay on the block of chocolate... you had better eat some more over the weekend... Id add a few chocolate brownies as well...and icecream..lol..
hope that you are finding your mojo after your bfn.

Im just plodding... went for a swim today with DD... and had chocolate peanuts for lunch..lol. My sorethroat continues to give me a lot of pain.. might have to resort to antibiotics... except the last lot gave me the worst thrush, I will do my next blood test on tuesday and Im hoping that things are dropping, otherwise if the beta is rising it may be indicative of an ectopic and I might need an uss... so Im hoping that that is not a scenario that happens... especially in that I have no one to look after dd..

OK so I had my egg pick up today ladies!!!!!!
All went brilliantly. All of my 6 follicles (even the smaller ones which had just made it to 13mm on Wednesday) had eggs in them today! The scientist rang this arvo and said they were ALL mature enough to be fertilised!
I have a half dozen potentials brewing as you read this.

I am seriously on cloud 9 tonight. Surely with 6 eggs the fertilisation rate has a good chance. I am so relieved. If only I was drinking I would crack a bottle of red wine to celebrate this small first step. (Whispering to my eggs GROW sweeties GROW) LOL
