Default How can you TTC after already having a baby, and currently breastfeeding?

Hi all, My daughter wasn't a planned pregnancy but she is now a beautiful happy, healthy 9 month old (19th of this month anyway) And I would like to start TTC in May because I would like my children to be close, but because I'm breastfeeding my period still isn't regular at all! Iv had maybe a handful of "proper periods" since I gave birth to my daughter. I am really worried that they might not become regular in time to start TTC meaning it will be very hard to start TTC, do you have any tips to help regulate things or to keep track of ovulation better if your cycle isn't regular as I used to be literally every 28 days ovulating exactly 14 days into it so I always new what the go was (due to a health problem I had to track). (I have OPK's but after anything more?)

May is still 6 months away, your cycles will most likely be much more regular again by then, especially if you have already had a few periods. Your daughter will also prob be feeding less which increases your chances of ovulating.

If you want to track your cycles, taking your temperature daily and using a program like Fertility Friend can give you an indication of if and when you are ovulating and when your fertile days are.

I got pregnant when my DD was 12 months old, and i was still breastfeeding 12 + times a day.

There is a great book called "Taking charge or your fertility" which has some good info on this, and as pp said, in 6 months things will most probably have settled down a lot which makes it a bit easier.

    All the best.
