Is there any ladies who have uaed Dr Michael Wynn-Williams at Brisbane QFG? We are starting our very first IVF cycle with him (hopefully next week) and wondered if anyone else had any experiences to share?

Well lets just say I have started to cry as I begin writing. I havent got a positive result yet but i believe this time is my time. I have TTC since 2001 and doing ivf last 4 years. I have been with qfg all this time seeing a dr in mackay, than gold coast, than Malloy with no success. I saw a dr at the mater who found more endo and fluid in my tubes who sent me to Michael to have my tubes looked at, who i than saw he was with QFG, great 2 birds with one stone, he would fix my tubes and than help me get pregnant. To find a dr who you truly believe wants to help you, it is an amazing feeling. Other FS made me feel like a number, big time......My turning point was when Michael told me if my tubes were really bad when he got in there he would have to remove them. as i was falling asleep, he held my hand and said "you will be ok"..i am sure i started to cry as i went out to it. Today was another one of those moments, I had another transfer, and of course my cervix was not behaving, i complained about the pain after many instruments were used to pull it down and into place for the embryo's to go in..All he kept saying in a very calming way "you are doing great" "i am so proud of you"...all the pain went out the window and i was able to welcome my embryo's finally....my husband said when he finally saw the cathatar go in on the ultrasound screen, he looked up at him and said "did you see that, it's in" he said he had relief on his face that he finally got where we needed to get...I honestly feel that when i am lieing there in pain, he truly feels for me. As we walk out and go back to get changed, he goes to shake my hand "this deserve's more than that, a hug i think" and he gave me a great big hug...oh yes than i started to cry...It's his friendly nature that keeps me coping. With this cycle we also had to do donor using my sister, and she to has felt his magic.....I am happy for you to mention me at your apt, tell him to look after you like he has me....xx Carol-ann. Keep me up to date

I have also used Dr. Wynn-Williams. He is a very kind soul and was always happy to chat to you whenever you needed to. I did change fs however not because I did not like him but just felt he was a little inexperienced in the fertility game at the time and he was very honest about his experience back then though. This was nearly 4 years ago. It was a very hard decision to leave him but I needed another set of eyes to look into things and just wanted to go to another clinic. Just wanted to start afresh. I currently go to Prof Dunphy at Sunnybank.

Thanks both of you for your helpful insights!! Carol-ann - I will definitely mention you (if that's still ok) when I go to see Michael this afternoon - it's our last appointment (hopefully) before I start my cycle sometime next week.
So you've just had your transfer yesterday? It sounds intense! How are you feelig? My fingers are firmly crossed for you.
I am nervous as hell about this whole process - I have (unfortunately for a woman who desperately wants to be pregnant) a pretty low pain threshold.

I had a number of surgeries and ivf cycles with Michael and I couldn't say a bad word about him. In the end, he referred me to one of his colleagues for an extra set of eyes and I believe it was their combined efforts that got us our bfp (I'm 15 weeks now). As an endometriosis expert, he is really impressive, and as a fertility specialist he is thorough and proactive. He's also a lovely person. Is there anything in particular you'd like you know? All the best with your journey

Yes, I went through 3 cycles of IVF with Michael (2 fresh and one frozen cycle) and conceived by 3 yo DD. He's lovely and gentle and would recommend him.
