Default Mirena Dramas - Someone Help?

Okay so i need some advice. I got the mirena insert about 3 weeks ago. Ive since had my period (light but noticeable) for 2 weeks. I gotta get a check up in another week but i wanted some thoughts now.

Before I got the insert i only ever had my period for a maximum of 4 days so this is starting to annoy me!

Question is.... Will it get better??

Im sorry I dont have positive news for you I had the Mirena put in and I bled for 6 weeks and ended up getting it taken out. My obstetrician explained that this is likely due to the fact that I am breastfeeding and apparently this can cause breakthrough bleeding with the Mirena due to the hormones.

I had bleeding for about 8 weeks.
My body hated the mirena and I too had it removed in the end.

I would make sure your healthcare professional knows you are breastfeeding. Also have a read on the net about breastfeeding and mirena.

I dont think all women have issues with it while breastfeeding btw.

My son is 16months so no concern for me with breastfeeding. I cant use the pill because it makes me throw up & my little man was a pill baby (so i dont trust it now). I was after somethinh longterm that didnt adversly affect my hormones too much. Ughhh a little sad now, was a pain getting it in & now thinking i might get it out. In that case is there any reccomendations on contraception for longterm use?

I would really give the Mirena a longer go because everyone I know IRL who has the Mirena swears by it. I was just unlucky with my hormones and breastfeeding. I will be getting the Mirena put in after I have my second child in April and I finish breastfeeding, probably after 12 months or so.

I would give it at least 2 months before making a decision to remove it because I recall something about it taking up to 2 months for the breakthrough bleeding to stop? It was either 2 or 3 months...

On the positive side with the Mirena its the only contraception I have ever used where I still wanted to with DH :P

I really suggest trying to wait it out a little longer to see what happens

They put a speculum in like with a pap smear and then clamp your cervix open (hurts a bit) then it gets inserted.
