    Default Really worried...

    Hi everyone,

My pregnancy story is a little complicated so I'll try & keep it short but I really just need to know that everything is going to be ok. Unfortunately I don't get my latest HCG results back until tomorrow (they arrived this morning but my GP is on a course). The story is this...

According to my LMP, I am currently 6w6d. I had a scan done last Thursday which showed I was 4w1d (which would indicate that I am currently 4w6d). I know precisely my dates, except for ovulation (first day of LMP was 20 August, UPSI was 1 September (only time since LMP, sad I know) and I have a feeling the temporary cramping I had on 14 September was implantation cramping. Friday morning last week, HCG was fine, then they did another test 18 hours later & the HCG was the same. GP thinks that the test was just done too soon but I had to do another one on Monday anyway (the results I'll get tomorrow). I did my first HPT on approx. 15 September & it was a very faint +. Next day, I did another one because I couldn't believe it and it came back with a definite +. Still in disbelief, I did another on 19 September & it was +++. I saw the GP on 20 September who confirmed via a blood test.

Another factor in all this is that until 16 September, I was taking regular prescription medications including tegretol, seroquel & clonazepam for bipolar disorder (which could have slowed initial growth). I have been taking folic acid daily since 20 September.

According to LMP, I am due on 25 May 2012, however the scan has me due on 8 June 2012. If I was 4w1d at the scan (and they count in LMP not gestational age), that would have meant that I had AF when I had UPSI which was absolutely not the case. I am so confused & anxious. The sonographer also said that she thinks everything is fine just that the baby is small for its dates and that there did not appear to be any evidence of an ectopic. I've had no cramping or bleeding, continue to have symptoms including nausea, frequent urination, massive & sore boobs.

To top it all off, this is my 6th pregnancy and I'm 40 years old. I have two adult children DD who is 21 & a DS who is 18. In between them, I had a stillbirth (due to a ruptured appendix & complications) and the following year, I had a termination. Nearly 3 years ago, I had a miscarriage.

I am a single Mum and have been since 1994. FOB does not know, nor do any of my friends or family. I figured given it was such a high risk pregnancy it was best to just wait & see if it stuck before I turned everyone's worlds upside down. DD has her final uni exams in a couple of weeks & DS has his Year 12 exams in a couple of weeks. Has anyone else been through something similar? How did it work out? If the scan was gestational age, then the dates were right but if they were LMP, then there is potentially a problem.

On a good note, I wasn't able to get into a few obstetrician's based on LMP dates as they had already closed their books (how can they do that when you're only 6 weeks based on LMP?) However, I finally got an appointment with 1 who apparently specialises in high risk pregnancies because even though they have closed their books for May, the scan says I am due on 8 June & the sonographer that I used is apparently 'very accurate'.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. I am quite literally beside myself at the moment with worry. Please keep your fingers crossed for me.

I cant really offer any advice, but the fact that you are still having nausea etc usually indicate that your hormones are still rising, which is a positive sign. With my DD1, the doctor estimated (going by LMP) that I was 10 weeks when we found out, but an ultrasound showed I was actually 6 weeks, so thats a difference of an entire month.

everything comes back fine and you have a sticky bub, and good luck.

Woohoo! GP called me to tell me that everything is good with my HCG levels and nothing to worry about. I don't need to see her again until after my scan next Thursday afternoon at 2pm! Bub is hanging on there for the long haul I think, keep your fingers crossed everyone, I know I am

Glad to hear your news went well!

I was going to say that it isn't a big issue if dates are a few days out, that can be totally normal.

Congratulations and wishing you a healthy pregnancy, delivery and baby!!

No!!! I think I'm going to have to go to the hospital. I've got this pink discharge that's not normal. I'm not 'bleeding' or 'spotting' it's just pinky peach colour. I have no pain either but I figure this can't be good. I so desperately wanted this baby!

I always have this kind of spotting with each of my pregnancies (I still worried each time too lol) I have been told it is all from implantation. Fingers crossed for you

    Hi hokey pokey,

I don't think it's implantation, I was pretty certain that happened on 14 September. I'm 7w1d according to lmp dates but scan Thursday week ago said I was about 2 weeks less. It's not a huge amount & only on toilet paper on & off.

I just got back from the emergency department and it all seems to be going well

They didn't do an ultrasound because the emergency department didn't have one (couldn't believe that)! They did my HCG levels though and got access to my previous results and my levels have just over tripled since Monday (5 days) so she said not to worry that everything would be fine, just go home & rest. I have to go & see my GP on Monday & try & bring my scan forward from Thursday to Monday too. She said she doesn't think that I'm having a miscarriage based on my increasing HCG but if I get pain or cramping or bleeding to go back immediately. So relieved
