    Default Croup again?!

Arrrr! It seems that my 2yr old is always coughing, but not a normal cough, he coughs deep in his sleep (day and night) and takes sharp breaths in (like he is gasping). I think this is the 5th time this year! The only thing that helps is pre-mix.

Is it normal for them to suffer so much? I feel like it has been a winter of croup, croup, croup!!!!!

What do you mean it's not a normal cough?

Croup sort of sounds like a seal. They make a noise when breathing in. I know when my girls had croup it has been mainly the early evening or early hours of the morning when it seems worse.

If he's not breathing normally and coughing a lot I would be concerned and want to rule out asthma. I would be taking him back to the Dr's or hospital asap if he is gasping.

eta: But yeah, DD1 had croup many many times when she was young. Way more than 5 per year.

DD is the same. I've lost count of how many times she has had croup
The doctors tell me she will grow out of it. It's no fun at all, big hugs to you

Yes its def possible and some kids are prone to it. If this helps at all my grandmas prevention for croup is sleeping with the window open to let the night air in but dressing them warmly
