Good Morning,
DH and I are taking DD and DS on their first "big" holiday next year. We are going to the Gold Coast.
We were going in Oct this year but had to cancel. We were going to stay at Paradise Resort. After reading some comments on their fb page, we are a bit put off.
Has anyone stayed there? If yes, did you have a good time? Was it clean etc
We are also looking at the Turtle Beach Resort.

Which resort is better?

We have been to the Paradise Resort in the past on numerous occasions.
It is a good family resort. Cheap and central to everything....venues, public transport etc.
The only thing was the rooms.....they were old and outdated.
But my thoughts were.....you were only sleeping there as you would be out and about all day.
In saying that, I too have been following there renovation progress on FB and am a little disappointed.
I have not been to Turtle Island but have heard good comments about it from friends.
Anything with a Kids Club would be a bonus.
Sea World Resort is also good. We only did a 2 nighter there once but it was awesome. DS loved it. A bit more pricey, but worth it.

We stayed at Paradise Resort but won't be staying there in the future. Yes it's kid friendly and they have a playground and kid's club but I wasn't that impressed. We never used the kid's club, we were out alot and I found the pool not that big or great. The rooms are really old which put me off. I haven't been to any other resorts in the Gold Coast so can't comment on others.

I have stayed there twice and loved it! The kids loved it! No complaints.
But I did notice they are renovating at the moment so I probably wouldn't stay there while that's happening.

Id never go back to paradise resort. From the moment we set foot in there it was a disaster! We had to wait in the lobby with all our bags and 2 exhausted kids for almost 2 hrs while they got our room ready. We finally got the keys to a dirty room at 4 pm! Then the fridge was leaking on the carpet, there were no blankets for the kids beds and it took 3 calls and until almost 8pm to get them to send
The staff were generally unhelpful and uniterested, some even downright rude, the
'restaurant' was terrible. We had to go into the main strip for dinner and weed out the kid friendly places.. Fun with 2 kids exhausted after theme park days!!
We had so many other problems there..
The pool area was great....thats about all I can say thats positive!
We have also stayed at Teasure Island ( best one so far) Q1, Mermaid Waters and Tiki Resort... All much better than paradise!

I have no advice regarding the resorts you mentioned, but have you looked at Treasure Island Holiday Park?
Friends and I stayed there last year with our kids and we loved it, the price was reasonable, was central to everything we needed, offered plenty of discounts and coupons to several Gold Coast attractions, venues and eatery's/restaurants.
I recommend taking a look at their website if you haven't already

I wouldn't stay at Paradise Resort because the rooms are not self contained, which I find ridiculous in a family resort.
My favourite place to stay on the Gold Coast is Mantra Sun City
