    Default Stuck in Muswellbrook!

Hi there I am a young Mum and live in Muswellbrook NSW. I have one daughter, 2, and another bub on the way.

I feel very alone and isolated here. I have no friends in the area and no mothers groups have let me in because of my age.

I guess I'm just reaching out here in the hope of meeting some people.

welcome that's terrible that no mother's groups will let you join

I am nowhere near you (don't even know where Muswellbrook is!) but that's the beauty of an internet forum, you can make plenty of friends all over the place!

Why don't you head over to your due in month section, you will meet lots of lovely women at the same stage of pregnancy, there's also a young mum's chat you could check out

I am in the area, but still a little over an hour away. Are you on facebook? There is a 'person' called hunter valley mummas where there are a HEAP of mummies all from this area - it's worth checking out.

Is the local child health nurse able to hook you up with a mothers group? It's awful that others wouldn't let you join! I know I was too old for one locally (I had jsut turned 25 when I had my first) but they still set me up in another one!

Hi there, I am not nearby, but I do know what it is like to be new in town. Could you try a local playgroup instead of mothers group, you can google playgroups australia and find a local one. Or you could try something like swimming or baby music classes, to try to meet other mums. Our local childrens heath clinic has lots of flyers on the board about different activities. Or, while this might take some courage, if you see someone in your street with kids of a similar age, introduce yourself and ask could your kids play together. Kids are a great conversation starter, so try to use them to expand your social circle if you can. Take care of yourself.

Ditto to all of this. I can't believe they won't welcome you because of your age. Your local health nurse should be able to help you, mine did.

Sheer Bliss I wonder if we are in the same town or total opposite direction of Muswellbrook?

I'm about 2 hours away from you OP but head to Musso a fair bit to see friends.
I do know there is a local playgroup, have a look on playgroups Australia site of info.
