    Lightbulb Tip for the day...

So i saw my obstetrician yesterday and she growled at me because i admitted i never remember to do my pelvic floor exercises! But she told me a handy tip for remembering, which i thought i'd share with you all:

Associate the exercise with something that happens regularly thru out your day (about 10 times a day is enough), and use that as a cue. Examples:

Every time you stop at a red light.
    or
Each time a certain co-worker passes your desk to go for a smoke break.
    or
When watching tv, do it during every commercial break

Anyone else got a handy tip to share?

I do mine while I change my daughters nappy. I'm so used to doing them it's become second nature.

Do them every time you open a bub hub thread. You'll have pelvic floor to die for.
Now to take my own advice...

I never know if I'm doing them right unless I'm stopping a wee midway.

I do the traffic light thing, but don't drive every day and don't always stop at lights... try to remember while I'm watching TV and sometimes whilst in front of the computer. But I don't count them – is that really important or is it more important that you're just doing them? Some books I've read say to do at least 100 per day but I doubt I get even close. Should I be recording this somewhere and gradually adding more in or is it ok to just be doing them at all??

My midwife told me the best tip about pelvic floor: associate it with water. If your standing washing your hands, do them. Sitting having a drink, lying in bed thirsty etc. That way you aren't always sitting down (red light) or standing (walking past a street sign). You just need to remember when you see/touch water to do your PFE.

hi, I was told to do the exercise as often as you could, no limit on how many times a day. I think I was told to do it whenever I saw another woman. I must have been always doing them. Marie.
