Default 7 year old girls dancing to 'Single Ladies'. Is this wrong to you?

A friend posted this on facebook which much the same opinion as I have. These girls are truly amazing dancers but the way this has been done is really wrong. If even just a few of the dance moves had been changed (and the costumes!!!!) then this would not be as bad, but as it is it's really verging on child porn

Their dancing is absolutely amazing considering the ages of the girls. However, this is yet another example of the blatant sexualisation of our young girls. It makes me so sad for my daughter. When DD is 7 I want her to be a child still, not dressed up like a stripper and gyrating. What a waste of those girls' talent.

They are incredible! But I think they could have danced to something just as upbeat, age appropriate and fun that didn't need the barely there costumes, adult moves etc...

That was amazing!! I don't have a problem with it at all. The costumes weren't that different to the dance costumes I see at my daughters dance studio (she's been there since she was 5) and the dancing itself was phenomenal

    Are you serious?

Whilst the dancing was amazing, they looked like little whores dressed like that. Totally inappropriate clothing and moves for a 7 year old. I am appauled that people think this is ok

Whores? OMG I don't think they look that way at all. I remember myself, 2 of my friends and a whole bunch of kids (when we were that age) dressing very, very similarly for a dance routine we did back in the day. We certainly did NOT look like mini prostitutes and nor do these girls!!

Seriously, I'm not sure if you have a child in dancing at all, but I do...and these costumes honestly do not shock me. While my daughter hasn't bared her midriff in a routine (yet), her costumes are usually ALWAYS short and a lot of the girls do wear very heavy make up. Just the way it is.

I can't believe anyone would refer to 7 year old girls as whores no matter how they look TBH.

I posted it on my facebook, where everyone is just as appalled and someone made a good point. They said it was odd that the girls were dressed like that when Beyonce was wearing a long sleeved black leotard which would have been far more appropriate and fitting for the young girls to wear.

They probably rely on the shock factor to spread the word.

Why are you appauled at that? It is more of an expression, and I didnt say that they were whores, but were dressed as whores may dress. Simple fact is they are dressed like a prostitute.

I can't believe any mother would let a 7 year old do that dance in that costume. I just can't even imagine it. It is wrong on every level.
They are 7. Let them be kids, fcol! Talent should be irrelevant to a 7 year old. They are meant to be mucking around in the back yard dancing to the radio with their friends at that age, and dancing in leotards at the end of year concert. Not dressed up in lingerie, performing sexualised adult dance moves in front of thousands of people (and being videoed for youtube in the process)!

I agree with Blueberry Crumble, that is EXACTLY what they look like and its not wrong to say that, she is simply putting forward her opinion, not saying they *are* wh0res but that they certainly do look like they should be shaking it on a street corner. Thats no fault of their own obviously, its the adult who decided on the whole thing that should be ashamed. It makes no difference that they are doing it for a dance concert, if you saw a child dressed like that walking through the shops Im sure you would all be appalled because its just wrong.

No daughter of mine will ever ever EVER do dance for this very reason.
