Well, I am being pedantic about the original meaning of the word. I appreciate that the usage has now broadened, but originally it meant 'to reduce by one tenth.'

This thread is funny - I find myself driven to the point of distraction when people mispell words. My pet hates are:
    you're/your
    too/to
    pacifically instead of specifically.

Although I have to admit I laughed when my husband came home the other night and told me he overheard someone on the train say "not nessa celery"!

Nooo....!! Well, in that case your point was even more pedantic than mine (which is a compliment, by the way).

Haha - I'm sure NONE of us from this thread have ever been accused of such a thing!

This has turned a little bit into things people say rather than spelling and grammar (equally annoying) but I'm going to get back to a spelling one that ALWAYS annoys me:

    wierd instead of weird.

    Hey bubhubitarians....

Can you help me with something that has puzzled me?

It may be simple but it has escaped my mind

    Which is correct:

"Jim & Myselfs day out tomorrow"

"Jim & Mines day out tomorrow"

or if neither are correct? What is

saying the first (which i thought was correct) sounds...... wrong.

I believe it should be: "Jim's and my day out tomorrow".
