Default Pram with toddler seat option or not?

I'm looking at prams, particularly 3 wheelers and I'm trying to decide if I need the toddler seat option. I'm having my 1st baby in January and don't know when I'll have the 2nd, maybe in 2 - 3 years time. I don't want to get a pram without the toddler seat option and then find I need one. I definitely don't want to have to buy another pram in 2 years time.

So, have you used a toddler seat on your pram? Does a 3 year old need to sit in the seat, or do they end up walking beside you anyway? Any thoughts?

have you thought about getting perhaps the phil and ted E3. It has the added option of a 2nd seat which is purchased seperately to the actual pram that way you only need to buy the toddler seat if it is needed in a few years.

The website is www.philandteds.com but the pram is available in lot's of places like babies galore etc. I have the pram at the moment and love it! Very lightweight and easy to use and is probably the only 3 wheeler double to be able to fit through the checkout lines

    hello

I had similar queries when we were buying our 3 wheeler. The 3 wheelers with the toddler seat option are good, but we were advised against them because there is a higher risk that they can tip over.

Also, from my experience with my nieces, there is no way my 3 year old niece would sit in a pram.

This is just my opinion but I would be inclined to buy a pram that suits you for now. I did alot of research before buying ours and we ended up with a Beema Q with a bassinette. We bought it from BabyCo and it was rated as one of the best by Choice magazine for 2005. It was $470 with the bassinette.

There is somewhere on this site that you can see peoples reviews of various prams so maybe check that out.

good luck with what you choose, its overwhelming with how much choice there is!

i bought a pram that could take a toddler seat (bertini shuttle) and then i ended up gettinga double pram secod hand anyway,
i found the toddler seat hopeless. just inconvenient to have to put it on the pam every time i wanted to use it, it didn't have asun shade or recline at all, and there was hardly any veiw for the baby other than the back of the seat, as she was sitting up more she was right up against the toddler seat and getting her in amd out was difficult with the seat in the way.

at three my LO was starting to use the pram less and less, however the convenience of being able to strap her in if she is tired, or just to stop her running amuk, or so i can walk a bit faster means i found it worth it to get a double pram.

i just use a stroller now( for the baby )and she is 3.

my daughter was 3 and half when my son was born, and she walked, or stood on the back of the peg perego, has like a toddler stand on it. you can buy the kiddy boards as well, for the toddler to stand on. I wouldnt buy a toddler seat now, wait until you need it.

I bought ours from a second hand store (still in v/good condition) the toddler seat comes off when we don't need it. We only have one child at the moment but we bought a pram with toddler seat at the start of the year coz I was pregnant, but miscarried a few weeks later

Hayley now has 2 prams (one with toddler seat, one without) when we go shopping we put Hayley in the toddler seat and put the shopping in the 2 prams (we don't have our licence so this comes in handy)

Anyway, we payed 200 for the pram.

Depends on the 3 year old.....they are usually quite capable but having said that I have a 3 year old and a baby due in December. I have gone out and bought a double pram as there are situations when I will be using it. I go walking to the shops (its too far for him to walk) and sometimes he is just so naughty (running away etc) that it is just easier to put him in a pram......(I won't be able to chase him with a baby in tow). I think you need to allow yourself the option of having a toddler seat......it will save money. I have had to go and buy a second pram....
