Question Medicare and Baby Bonus after having new bub??

so ive just spent 40 odd minutes on hold with centrelink and their website is down, my phone battery decided to die while on hold with them so couldnt get answers i need there. thought next best bet is bubhubbers

i had my little girl a bit over a week ago, and was curious as to how long it takes for medicare to update and put a new baby onto my file?

also how long did it take for you to start receiving baby bonus payments? i still dont have her room set up yet as most of her stuff is on layby and she ended up coming early!

    any help muchly appreciated,
    thanks girls xx

to put bub on Medicare, as soon as you send the form in.
baby bonus they say approximately 14 days but usually earlier for my little one it started coming in 7 days after i sent the paperwork

I took the medicare forms in to an office, and they can give you an interim card over the counter. Otherwise they were going to charge me at the drs for their checkup.

Centrelink payments started with our very next ftb payment with DD2, but DD1 was a bit slower, probably we were registering completely. But keep in mind they may be slower due to the floods, cyclone and fires.

If you go into a medicare office to register bub, they will give you your new medicare number straight away. So you can claim medicare for your baby even if you don't have your new card yet. Our local medicare also takes family assistance applications, so we are able to put in our application for baby bonus and FTB at the same time as registering bub for medicare.

The estimated time is 2-4 weeks at the moment, I put Sam's paperwork in at a medicare office and they gave me an interim card right away

I have stuff to get for Sam's room too and the toy room. And a dishwasher
