Default Girl or Boy - Guesses Please!!

    Hey all,

This pic is a still shot from the DVD the ultrasound place gave me.

I was convinced for the first 12 weeks that I had a boy. But if this was anyone else's pic, I would say definitely girl!!

Would love to hear everyone else's thoughts!

I guess girl. I was the same way. I was sure I was having a boy, even though I knew by my 12 week scan it was a girl. Turns out, my instinct was wrong and my scan guess was right.

    Thanks all!

Yeah Bambi, I do know what you mean, but I still think it looks like less than 30 degrees angle from the spine(which it would be for a boy).

I think I'm getting used to the idea of having a girl now...! :-P

hehe, yeah the bit down the bum end that kind of looks like a penis is the nub :-) At this age, it is the same size in boys and girls... in boys it goes on to become the penis, in girls the clitoris.

The theory goes that in boys it will be angled at least 30 degrees from the spine, whereas in girls it will be less than 30 degrees, more on a parallel with the spine. It is far from an exact science though!

    I would guess girl too.

Just a question, what does the angle of a baby's spine have to do with what gender they are? I don't get it?

The white line or nub is the urethra I believe, in boys it rises up away from being parallel with the spine as it becomes a wee willy whereas in girls it stays straight and parallel
