    Default Choosing a Clinic

    Hi Ladies

Firstly, I am new to Bubhub and would like to wish you all good luck, you are very strong women and I hope that 2011 is YOUR year. DH and I are 35yrs old and have been TTC for approx 15m. Doctors cannot give us a reason to why we are not falling; I guess they put us in the 'unexplained' category. In Nov last year, we tried IUI with Next Gen Fertility Clinic but it was unsuccessful, so we have decided to give IVF a go this year. I was wondering if any of you ladies have heard of Next Generation Fertility Clinic? and your honest opinion of what you think of them please. To be honest with you, my experience (customer service) with Next Gen Clinic so far, hasn’t been great one, so we are also going for a second opinion with SydneyIVF, we have an apt with Dr Antony Lighten on Wed. I know they are $$$ but I have been told they have a high rate. I'm so confused , I don't know who to go with. Doc also recommended MedicaIVF who can be less invasive with their treatment. To be honest with you, I'm a bit nervous, or maybe a lot nervous LOL. Your opinions would be great help.

    Thanks
    Hoping75

    Hi Hoping75,

Sorry to hear TTC has been difficult for you and I hope you find success with IVF. There was a thread on Next Gen Fertility going around, link here:
    http://www.bubhub.com.au/community/f...d.php?t=371637

I am with Medica IVF, which you mentioned in your post. I have been very happy with their service and always feel like a 'person' not just a number. In terms of $$, there is not much difference between Medica, SIVF and IVF Aust.

I'm not sure what your Doc meant by 'less invasive', but he may have been referring to Medica's practice of using a mild stimulation protocol. They do focus on quality vs quantity in terms of follicle stimulation and egg production. I went into IVF terrified of how the drugs would affect me, and came through it with hardly any side effects on Medica's protocol .

The only issue I've had with my FS (fertility specialist) was that since my DH was diagnosed with MFI (male factor infertility), I feel they stopped looking for things that could be wrong with me. After our 2nd transfer failed, I requested more tests and they were happy to oblige. I had ~30 tests that I got from this very site! One of my results came back unfavourable, and my FS thinks its not relevant to falling PG... however I am going to seek a 2nd opinion, only because I've had enough after 6 yrs TTC and refuse to leave any stones unturned!! In saying that, I'm not looking to do IVF with another clinic as I'm happy where I am. I just want to arm myself with as much knowledge as possible.

We have a thread for all Sydney girls at any stage of the assisted conception process, you're more than welcome to join our little group:

Good luck making up your mind on clinic choice. I hope you also find a good FS that makes you feel comfortable and supported.

    Hi Hoping

I went through Sydney IVF in Canberra and could not recommend them more highly. They were absolutely wonderful. I was lucky enough to get a first time round (don't have U/S until Wednesday this week though - so all is as it should be), but even before I found out I was feeling confident about embarking on future cycles just because of how great the service was. I never once felt like just another patient, and the care/service on all fronts was fantastic. I also have a colleague who went through Sydney IVF (Sydney/City clinic) and they were first time lucky as well.

    Best of luck to you

    hi

i was with NGF for IVF and TBH found them really good, that was til about oct 2009 after i got a BFP and have been back for appt for #2. i saw DR Tang initally (who is now with MedicaIVF), she was nice and see Dr McDonald at NGF now. Ive never had any problems at all and been very happy. I was initially with IVFA but left as i didnt like my FS there and just never felt comfortable, also I didnt like having one FS but a diferent one do EPUs etc....u should stay / go where u are happy tho and one bad experience can be enuf to turn u off. SIVF report high success BUT they are the most expensive. NGF and MedicaIVF are small clinics compared to IVFA and SIVF, some ppl like that others not.

    Hi ladies
You have been most helpful thank you very much, you are right by saying that I should go with who ever I feel most comfortable with. At this stage I have only had an experience with NGF (IUI) so it's good to go for a second opinion since we're commencing IVF this year and take it from there. However I would prefer for the FS to be doing the EPUs, so I will be asking the question. Lindylou78 good luck with your second opinion and hope you'll get to the bottom of it. Katieee congrats and all the best with your u/s. Jfblady72 good luck with #2.
    Thanks again

    Hey Ladies,

Not too sure if you're still looking for a reply, however I was with NGF - and I can honestly not recommend them highly enough!!!

The doctors/nurses/reception absolutely everyone was fantastic to deal with, made the whole process that much easier...

We saw Dr Kim Matthews, and luckily got our BFP on our first cycle!

Please let me know if you wanted any further info!!!

    GL -xxx-

Hi GL, thanks for your advice.  We went for a second opinion this week at SydIVF and saw Dr Lighten. For somereason he made my DH and I feel that bit more comfortable, he picked up on a couple of issues that other FS have missed.  And this was just by looking at past tests.  I also was seeing Dr Matthews at NGF (IUI) and she was really nice and all, however my experience with the FN at NGF wasn't the best.  This enough pushed us to get a second opinion, and we have now decided to go with SydIVF.  Fingers crossed it's the right decision.
I'm really Glad to hear that you got a BFP first cycle ;-)

Hi Hoping75, I can see you have made your decision but also have to say I am with NGF and have had a great experience and see Dr Kim Matthews. The nurses have been good.

I find some nurses better than others but have had no bad experiences. I have also seen Dr Janelle McDonald there, they all work closely together.

NGF produced my first child (first go) and now we're going through round 2 with them (fresh transfer tommorrow).

I also went through Sydney IVF initially and had a bad expereince and didn't go further then my first appointment with them after he told me to find an alternate husband after seeing my hubbies Sperm results. I wasn't impressed, I know it was a joke but how is that funny.

Best of luck, I hope all goes well.
