That sucks opti. We had an adult wolf spider in the house the other day and yours sort of looks like it but smaller.

Whitetails seem smaller than your spider (the ones I've seen).

In my professional opinion it is a black spider... That we can be sure of.

    How are you feeling now?

    oh that made me laugh.

OP, I'm sorry I'm no help... I know more about snakes than spiders...
Hopefully they can ID it for you.

OMG what is it with you and spiders Opti?? You've been bitten before haven't you?

I found a BIG black house spider in the kitchen the other day, sprayed it then vacuumed it up. God I hope it didn't have babies inside it. Might have to empty the vacuum cleaner bag *outside* tomorrow. I hate spiders.

I hope all is ok with your bite.

Oh SO annoying. I copped a juvenile white tail bite to the face while I was napping a few weeks ago. Within three days my right eye was swollen shut and I was at emergency. Little b•stard. Then a week later all this black crap started oozing out of the hole and formed a scab which is STILL THERE and I'm getting married in two weeks. I thought the pain was bad but the itching nearly sent me round the twist.

I think we found the mother last week and I asked DP if he really had to kill her (ie I wanted to just take her across the road and leave her in the bushes) and I said to him 'what about her babies?' to which he replied, 'uh, I don't think they're breastfeeding!!'

Definately not a white tip or a black house spider. Could possibly be a juvenile wolf spider but I have just always called them a garden spider because I always see them in the garden.
