Lilwish - They are good numbers, good on you. Good luck for ET tomorrow. Keep us informed.

Leannep - The other reason that overseas donors (sperm and eggs) is a good option is that they are anonymous and Australian donor sperm and eggs are now not anonymous (thanks to the Australian government), that is why they are now in such short supply in Australia....it means any babies born from Australian donor eggs or sperm can track down the 'biological' mother or father, which means less Australian's are donating. I hope I have that right....please correct me if not.

Sunny......... hang in there chicke.... I only got the faintest positive at 17dpo (like 5mins to come up) I think us older gals tend to have lower betas.... my fingers are still crossed for your blood test.

Leannep.... big hugs sweetie... wallow a bit... have a pity party .. you are allowed to overindulge with chocolate and wine... I hope you will be able to see the rainbows again soon.

Lilwish.... great follie numbers... good luck for the transfer...I hope that you get some goodies...ps.. human growth hormone is very good to help with your problem...but of course you wont need it..

wannabb.... wow that is great news your donor was so great... not many women get such great results...what a great feeling having all those blasts... thats a soccer team there... good luck for your FET.

Lionee....good luck with your scan tomorrow... I hope you have a good crop of follies... not long now... the first cycle is always the most exciting...

    lilbirdy.
.. I hope that you are recovering from the D+C... i guess the upside is that your endometrium will be at its most receptive now for the next 3 months or so......
I hope that you can get some answers...

    Tens.
..how is all the coordination going... its getting so close...

    mammaliz.
... hows the happy fat chic going.... enjoy your bump and dont forget to take regular bump photos...

Tadaaa... goodluck with EPU.. I hope it goes well...remember drink lots and lots of water in the next few days to flush out those ivf toxins.... cant wait to here your fert report

well the FET draws closer and closer... on the pill to keep away cysts and to aid in timing..which is tricky... as it is really a packet and a half..so this is going to be a prolonged lot..taking 34tabs instead of the 21 active tabs to align everything,
at the moment the plan is to make CD3 around the 25th or 26th october... then have my hysteroscopy around the 28th... and hopefully transfer around nov 10th -- if it goes well... I fly home on the 14th so the timing is pretty close..sigh...
taking all my vitamins... and DHEA just in case it does not work and I have to do a fresh cycle.
I found a good usa vitamin site which I have used before and did some research on vitamin companies in use...

http://organicpharmacy.org/index.php so these guys are good..

the vitamin brand which has the highest rating is douglas laboritories... I have bought some DHEA and melatonin off them...real cheap... 6 months worth of 75mg DHEA for $60. Their postage is not to bad as well. I also thought I would try some alpha lipoic acid... has anyone used it?... its a super antioxidant.

I hope that friday brings some happy thoughts to everyone.... we need some good news on the thread....

Hey micca, thanks for thoughts. Second d&c so hope uterus is more receptive this time !

Quick one - is script needed for dhea from that site ? And have you taken it and got any side effects ? My FS not a fan because he reckons it's for lower responders but I might try anyway ......

Lilbirdy – I can give you a little bit of info on DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone). DHEA is a natural steroid hormone produced by the adrenal glands. Our bodies use DHEA to produce other hormones including testosterone and oestrogen. Levels of DHEA peak in our 20s and then decline as we get older. DHEA is often dubbed ‘the youth hormone’ and in theory should slow the ageing process. DHEA is thought to stimulate the granulose cells in the ovary and increase the number of follicles and therefore, potentially eggs.

I have been back on DHEA since April, only stopping a week before my FET cycle (not sure if there was any need to), but if I get a BFN tomorrow, I will be back on it again. I have experienced a bit of an itchy scalp, more in the afternoon, I think it might be due to the natural oils or sweat irritating the scalp. I have also experienced hair loss, but don’t worry it doesn’t fall out in clumps or leave you bald. Micca summed it up perfectly once by saying that you may find you will need to clear your brush a little more often than usual. I have also had the stray chin/jaw hair…..stops when DHEA stops. Oh and a wee bit of acne….usual clears up after about 2 to 3 weeks after the commencement of DHEA. Some people don’t get any side effects at all.

Hope this helps.....I would also explore Human Growth Hormone (Saizen).

Hi I haven't been on in a while. I am in the 2ww. ET was on 3/9 with 2 being put in. 3 on ice. This cycle was a bit new to me as we used donor eggs from one of my sisters who is only 33. I lost my tubes last nov and endo pretty much stuffed up my chances of using my own eggs after many cycles. I hope this adventure brings with it happiness and dreams coming true.

Micca – Just wondering if I can pick your brains about something. I started going to a new acupuncturist who ‘specialises’ in fertility and assisted conception. She briefly spoke to me about the benefits of females taking Vitamin E and L-Arginine. She gave me the medical studies paper regarding these 2 and also the benefits of Viagra pessaries, to read whilst I was having acu. But for the life of me, I cannot remember a thing from that appointment….I was so in awe that some of her acu pressure points were different from the previous place that I was going to for over a year!!

I can understand the benefits of Vitamin E…..a major antioxidant, blood thinner etc. But I cant understand L-Arginine…..I have read of its benefits for males and if I remember right, I think you have posted of its benefits for males too.

Would you now the theory behind L-Arginine for women and Viagra pessaries? Would you believe, I happened to glance at some paperwork and saw the words ‘Viagra pessaries’ when I was coming out of the clinic after my FET transfer 2 weeks ago!

I hope this is not an imposition on you.

Sunny even though America has a unknown donor program to use that sperm in Australia you can only pick the ones who agree to be on a known register. I couldn't pick the ones that were anonymous.

Thanks Sunny & Micca. See, I dont need any more follies - I just need better eggs. I have polycistic ovaries, although not PCOS - and Ive had 30, 22, 17, 16 etc etc follies collected. Of those, only one cycle where I got more than one blasty (altho on that best cycle i got four blastys). Which is presumably why FS says it's not really for me, as i have an ok ovarian reserve for my age - and dhea is really more for low responders (albeit egg quality may improve with both low and high responders). I also did a bit more research and think id just be concerned about risk of OHSS and in fact the US govt website warns that it could be dangerous for women with PCOS (usually they already have an elevated level of DHEA).

Thanks again for the info and input

lilibirdy.... you are so right... PCOS already has elevated testosterone and DHEA... so additional supplementation can make it worse.
Are you taking metformin??? it has been shown to improve egg quality in PCOS
I was also reading about alpha lipoic acid which has a positive role in carbohydrate metabolism and insulin...something that PCOS often are prone to insulin issues.. might be worth considering... Im actually going to try some...

    sunny...thinking of you xxxxxx
the viagra pessaries help with lining issues...if you have very poor lining and estrogen issues it increases the lining.... very popular in usa to use.
L-arginine... I think it is improving the quality of the eggs... but like you I have seen most of the data about males...

cagav...welcome back... good luck with your donor cycle... fingers crossed those lovely young eggs do their stuff...
