Another intruder here who wants to show my support to the courageous ladies here who are doing the hard yard of trying to achieve their dreams to be mothers.

Sure we're all entitled to our opinions, however, TNTbub your comment was uncalled for, unsolicited and unwelcomed. I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who will begrudge you using taxpayers money to fund IVF as well as donor sperm. Some people would have the opinion that if you can't have a child naturally then you deserve to be childless.

I suppose that is the role of a democratic government where a bill/legislation is passed in parliament, we hope that the decisions do represent majority view. Remember just a year ago we were petitioning for the Budget cut on Medicare rebate on assisted reproduction and obstetrics and some other opthalmological and vascular services, and the voice of the IVF groups were strong enough to make some kind of difference.

We all know what our chances are being on this IVF rollercoaster long enough, it's not like we get it for free either, it's burning in a big hole in our pockets paying gap fees and medication fees as we go cycle after cycle as well. I'm sure no one here embarks on this journey without careful considerations of all the implications.

Keep going ladies! Don't give up!

Hello all, I am also from the country thread and will be very blunt "TNTbub, you have been plain nasty. Everyone's situation is different and regardless of age, being an older mother makes no difference and noone should be denied the chance to be a mother.

    Default Odios behaviour

Hi all, I just popped in to see what's news and apparently it's me being a drain on resources! I don't understand, if you're going through IVF yourself then wouldn't you just have the most heartfelt empathy for other people going through the same thing. It's all very well hiding behind freedom of speech but no one asked for your opinion, why make an inflammatory comment in a thread that doesn't relate to you? It's odd at best, that's a poisonous little streak you've got there.

I know people who started IVF in their thirties and were finally successful in their 40's, so thank goodness they weren't of the same ignorant mindset or they would not have their beautiful babies now.

Anyway, moving along, we had our first EPU on Friday and got 16 eggs, 11 have fertilised and today they are still all ticking along, a couple are fragmented but still 'in the game', for want of a better expression ... we're hoping for a football team.

Congratulations Lilly40, an inspiration to us all!!!

    Keeping smiling ladies.

    Smile Newbie

    Hi ALl,

Finally popping in to say Hi to ayou all after lurking around here for a while. I am 42 and Dh & I have been trying for the last 18 months to conceive baby no2.

DS was an IVF miracle born in 2008.

DH & I are just about to embark on our last IVF cycle. We are not telling anyone that we are doing this cycle (they all think we have finished. Its just 1 last 1 for DH & I). So, I am going to need some support as we go through this, and from what I have read, Ithnk there is no place I would rather be for this. You all seem just so lovely.

Anyway am on day 18 of 30 day cycle, so just playing the waiting game at the moment....a hard game to play!

Any, look fwd to chatting with you all over the next while.

Thanks for reading and good luck to you all wth your cycles.... Babydus to us all.

    NAJ

NAJ2008 - Welcome. You have come to a great positive thread despite the dramas of today!! Yes, the waiting is very frustrating and just so hard to do. If you dont mind me asking....how many times have you cycled, what have your protocols been, what will your next protocol be.....if you do not mind, jot it down.....some of us may have some hints/suggestions. Look forward to getting to know you.

Thanks to all of you that have wished me well for tomorrow. Unfortunately, I am not confident....its hard to be confident when the dull AF aches have plagued me throughout the 2WW....although, they were actually happening pre-transfer. If it is not meant to be tomorrow....I have plan 'D' partly thought out!! It will be tough tomorrow....DP is away at the mines, so I will be alone if its a BFN.....box of tissues, a block of chocolate, a bottle of wine and my mum on speed dial, might be my Monday arvo/night!!

    Hi Sunny15,

    Of course I dont mind!

In the last 18 months we have done:

    2 x boost,
3 x FET (natural and medicated) 2 x failure to ovulate (heartbreaking) and when I did embies did not survive the thaw process,
    2 x antagonist

We are waiting to start a boost with (and pardon my vagueness here) an extra potion thrown in from egg pick up day - an extra drug of some sort to help prepare the ovaries and uterus for conception. FS said it will make my bits think I am pregnant already thereby creating a 'more friendly'environment for emby to stick!. I feel dumb that I dont really know about this bit, but I was with FS for 40 mins and discussed lots. Some of it leaked out onto the footpath as I was walking down the street afterwards!

I'm seeing Nurse next week to pick up all the drugs so will have more of an idea then!

We were really lucky with DS, as we got our BFP on cycle #3:

    1 x downreg
    1 x boost
1 x natural FET (amazing luck here only 1 Emby in the freezer and he stuck!! total miracle!)

I think I went into this round 18months ago with a false sense of positivity (if that makes sense) as we fell so quickly when i was 39. I keep on forgetting that 42 is way different to 39!!!

Good luck for your test tomorrow - fingers crossed for you!

    Cheers...NAJ

Phew, you have gone through alot!!

Are you on any other pills (incl. vitamins etc), potions or regimes as 'add on' support to your protocols?

Have you tried DHEA, Human Growth Hormone (Saizen), acupuncture?

My first cycle was a year ago and I only got 1 out of 4 eggs fertilising. Then, through this thread, I started taking regular acupuncture, fish oil, CoEnzyme Q10, Acai Berry Juice, Vitamin D, Royal Jelly, DHEA and HGH. I also put DP on a vitamin regime and although our 'problem' is not male related (my eggs are just too old), I thought it important for DP to improve his quality, given our embryos are 50% each of us. Second cycle we achieved 75% fertilisation rate and then our current cycle, we achieved 100% fertilisation. Now I just need to get one to stick!!

Forgive me if you are already on all or some of these, however, thought it worth a mention.
