    Hi Ladies.

Hope everyone is well and plodding along ok !!

Mammalinz – have you started your injections yet ? I am starting Lucrin on the 6th.

otgirl -- I have read about the mini cycles before – unfortunately my FS is straight down the line and doesn’t want to try anything not trialled "properly". How are you going with the first mini cycle ?

AFM – went to the counsellor at the clinic about egg donation and came away with not a lot more info than going in. I start injections (lucrin) for our next and possibly last cycle next Wednesday but have already made an appointment for another clinic in case this doesn’t work – although when I told them my age several places would not see me. I also went to see a hypno therapist which was really good for visualising something positive happening – kinda like a guided meditation !! Has anyone else tried this ? Sounds like your CD would be a bit like this Sunny.

Feeling a little concerned at the moment as I seem to have started a breakthrough bleed and am worried what this (if anything) might mean -- if it gets heavy I will ring the nurses and see what they say !

Baby dust too you all !!

cjm1 – That is disgraceful that some clinics are not willing to see you just because of your age….you are only 42!!…..it is discrimination and I would like to bet that the reason comes down to their success statistics……some clinics have the view that older women will ‘drag’ down the success rates, despicable…..you have EVERY right to seek assistance to get pregnant…..those places do not deserve to operate!!! Ive had my two cents worth!!! Congratulations on starting next Wednesday…how exciting. I haven’t tried a hypnotherapist/guided meditation but I reckon it would be worth a go…..anything for relaxation, positive thinking/visualisation….how did you go with it?.....did you enjoy it?....do you think it will be of benefit to you?

Mammalinz – Let me know if you would like me to PM you the details of where to get the relaxation CD. Its not a bad thing to delay your cycle another month…..the benefits of the DHEA and extra HGH (if you have extra) will be well worth it…..I think both of those assisted with my increased fertilisation rates for my last 2 cycles.

Otgirl – Here’s hoping that AF plays the game and she turns up on time tomorrow. I am really interested in this new protocol….it sounds so much more civilised….it almost sounds like it is a natural cycle instead of all those drugs invading the system. How does your previous DHEA fit in with the protocol……will it enhance the protocol or is the idea not to have too much ‘outside’ influences? If you had not had DHEA previously, would it be something your FS had suggest you take prior to this new protocol?

For all those ladies that have been on this thread for quite some time, from memory I think Sooz07 was due in early March……if your lurking out there Sooz07, let us know how it all went. Think of you often.

    AFM
I had my last Pregnyl shot this morning and blood test is on Monday.

I feel like I have so much going on down there, I am questioning every ache, pain and twinge. I quite often have that heavy feeling that you get before AF, but that has been going on since before transfer…..I put it down to the combination estrogen/progesterone pessaries. This is the first time that I am using the combination pessaries, I am normally on the straight progesterone ones. Could it be AF or…..??!!

Then every couple of days I get these really pinpoint twinges and it doesn’t feel like ovaries….it feels more like uterus (feels like it is right in the middle and not off centre like an ovary type feeling). I had the same twinges (not as many though) with my last cycle which resulted in a BFP but eventually a chem pregnancy. The twinge was happening so often on Tuesday night (8 days post transfer) and continued for a long time, it kept me awake when I went to bed. This twinge seems to happen when I settle for the day, like lying on the couch watching TV. Implantation twinge or…..??!!

My b**bs are really sore and have that really full feeling, but they were sore pre-transfer….I think it started when I was in my last days of the stimming drugs. AF or……??!!

Strangely, I am not stressing with all this over-analysing.

Wouldnt it be good if someone invented a new ultrasound machine that could tell what is going on during the 2WW. It would be instant knowledge…..did the embie perish soon after transfer, did the embie survive further development, is the embie trying to implant and so on!!!

to everyone else out there, let us know how you are travelling.

Good luck for your BT on Monday, Sunny. Im surprised that you have a pregnol shot today and then the test on Monday. How do they know what is pregnol and what is pregnancy? (The last cycle I did I used pregnol and got a ghost positive on a HPT still at 6 days after the shot. On day 7 the positive was gone.).
Your 2ww ultrasound idea sounds excellent. It would make things much easier to know more during this time.
Anyway all the best with this one!

AFM - well nothing much. We don't talk IVF in this house much any more. DP seems to be of the view that it is best to be all over and has suggested that I have past my previous cut off point agewise (err... that was his previous cut off point). I had a fleeting offer for possible donor embryos (they aren't actually in exsistance yet and would be OS if they eventuated). It is a very unusual situation where the embryos would be the surplus embryos in a PGD for sex selection (nicely named family balancing). It is a bit pie in the sky and not much communication has eventuated so atm it is just a vague possibility.
I still feel sad at times that we haven't had any success with our number 2, but now I can see a possible future for DD without sibs, where as previously I had always imagined it with at least one and found it very hard to see our future without more kids. It is good that her little cousin who lives within driving distance is now beginning to talk and they play together. I think knowing that there will be someone near her age she can grow up with and seeing that start to happen has been helpful. We haven't ruled out fostering, but aren't actively pursuing it atm.

Just popped in to say Hi. Even though our IVF journey has finished, still like to hear how all you lovely ladies are going. Have fingers crossed for everyone.

Sunny15 - all the best for BT on Monday. Sore b**bs are a good sign.

Cillile - seems like we are on the same page. Was so hoping for a little brother or sister for DD, but just doesn't seem like it will happen. My only little bit of joy is that she has made some lovely new little friends at big school who are also only children, so maybe they will be able to grow up together. Not the same as a sibling, but it's the best we can hope for.

cjm1 - hope all goes well for you on Wednesday.

Mammalinz & Otgirl - hope all going well for you both also.

Ladies - I am 22 and pregnant with and IVF miracle. A miracle that should not be reserved for those who feel they deserve it more. And quite obviously don't deserve it themselves!

Don't be disheartened or discouraged by TNT's comments.

Thank you for your comments TNTBub, however, from one tax payer to another, this is a positive thread and think it insensitive you would bring up your comments on this forum.

We all know that IVF is stressful for anyone embarking on this process and to receive comments such as yours, just adds to the problem.

So to all the ladies on this thread that are about to cycle, are currently cycling, or in the 2WW - remain positive…..we are not a burden.

Remember all those lovely ladies from this thread that are currently holding or soon to hold their dream of a baby despite being told the odds - Micca, Sooz07, Kismet, Lilly40 etc and all those ladies from the start of this thread last year.

PS: TNTBub – your comment ‘those who have left their run too late’ is not often the case, so please do not suggest so.

MRJB - Thank you wholeheartedly for your positive comments.

However there is no way I can comprehend the post by TNTbub. It's a simple question - why would you deliberately seek out an over 40 thread to post that particular opinion ?

I saw this issue discussed on another website, and there are plenty of thoughts on this topic; and yes, we're all perfectly entitled to our opinions. But I went into that thread on the other forum knowing that I could expect to read diverse opinion. But knowing this particular thread offers nothing but support to others - no matter what their medical situation, marital status, colour, creed, weight - TNT, you are being deliberate and frankly, nasty.

I'm really sorry ladies but this will also be the last time I will post publicly here, I would like to PM those of you who've shown each other support along the way, if you don't mind but I'm sure you'll understand if it's more infrequent.

I simply don't want to be a part of something that leaves such a sour taste in the mouth.

I wish you all the best of luck in chasing your dream.

TNTBub and TNTDad - Yes, TNTBub is entitled to her opinions, as everyone is, but pick an appropriate forum, not hijack an informative positive thread.

I go for my final blood test tomorrow which is nerve racking enough (I know you all know exactly how Im feeling) and instead of sympathy, empathy, encouragement etc, normally experienced from this positive thread, I face TNTBub’s post. I do not need the further angst.

Lilbirdy – Please do not leave this thread. The original comment by TNTBub has been made inappropriately and I suspect she now wishes she had posted her comment in another thread or started a new one. The remark by TNTDad is a protective comment of TNTBub only. This thread has been constructive, educational, optimistic….lets face it, it has been there for each and every one of us. It can be again.

TNTBub - Perhaps an apology to all the ladies on this thread is appropriate, however, I doubt you will be back in this thread to do so.

    Hello ladies

Please excuse my intrusion, Im from the country thread...

...just wanted to say that I applaud and support you all for your efforts to have a family. I myself am about to turn 36, and my husband will be 50 in a matter of weeks. Not all of us are lucky enough to meet our partners in our twenties, and some of us (like my husband) are lucky enough to have a second chance at happiness with a new partner who desires a family. How wonderful that medicine has developed the technology to help those of us who have difficulty conceiving regardless of the reason! And how wonderful that our government helps us a little with the financial aspects!

Under TNT's logic, since age is not the only factor in infertility, perhaps couples should be evaluated according to the seeming difficulty of their case and allowed or denied treatment on this basis...??? Then, Im sure there are some who would like to deny myself and my DH this same opportunity (since our infertility is a result of a years ago decision to have a vasectomy by my DH and is therefore self inflicted). But in spite of this, we will continue to gratefully pursue treatment whilst making use of whatever government rebates are available to us, and we have every right to do so, AS DOES EVERY AUSTRALIAN.

I am dumbfounded by TNT's post. I am extremely upset that your thread was intruded upon and injected with such undeserved and uninvited judgement and negativity. Please do your best to disregard her comments and to retain your faith in the support of the bubhub community as a whole.

I would like to personally wish each and every one of you success with your journey, I hope that each of your journeys is short, but in the event that it be long, please make use of every opportunity to pursue your dreams...

    xxx
