I could not even achknowledge my pregnancy until after the 20 week scan... you will always worry.... I found that buying a doppler off ebay was the best investment and I was able to listen to babettes heartbeat every night... which gave me a lot of reassurance. I still use it especially for days that I feel that she is not as active.
Micca - Thank you. We've just been taking each day as it comes. There is no changing what's going on inside so between Ob appts I just try to believe everything is going as it should. Less stress for me that way

AFM - two days down. only 5 injections so far. Same again for next two days and then the fun begins. Booked in on Friday for intralipid infustion and bloods and scan. Possible EPU next Monday. Not grumpy any more, just really depressed. Don't remember this from last time. Spent most of day cleaning up mess around the property.
otgirl - Thank you and I hope you get the same result too. We had the NT scan. Nasal bone was seen and measurement was 1.3 so that was good. Blood test results were 50/50. PAPP-A was great, within normal range. BHCG was high which has narrowed our risk. Is now 1 in 38 but seeing as we start at 1 in 74 because of my age we aren't overly worried. Especially as the other results were good. We won't be doing any further testing unless we get a few markers show up in the Morph scan & then we may decide on an amnio. We don't want to increase our chance of miscarriage after the journey we've been through so there would have to be good cause for us to amnio. All a case of wait and see.

Hope the jabbing is going fine and you end up with a good amount of follies. Good luck with the infusion on Friday

Jonathansmum – I couldn’t believe your last post……to me that is complete incompetence on the part of the FS. Did you write a letter to MIVF or seek some kind of compensation? That sort of thing really rubs me up the wrong way…..all our trust goes into the ‘expert’ and something like that happens….I would love to see FS reaction if you were to ever confront him/her.

Wannabb – Good news on no polyps and congrats on starting another cycle. The Nitrodur patch doesn’t sound ‘fun’ at all. How are you going with it now? Good luck for your bloods and scan on Friday.

Billiesmum – Welcome back. How are you?

Jen42 – Are you still starting your next cycle on 14 February?

Hoping4asticky1 – Congratulations on your BFP. Wonderful news.

Mammalinz – Don’t put off the hyst and lap….get it done as soon as you can. I had a hyst and lap in September and I was really surprised at how quick the surgery was and also the recovery time. I agree with Wannabb that the painful part was the pain in the shoulder from the gas pumped into the belly, but my nurse told me that moving around would disperse the gas and the pain quickly stopped. Initially I came out of the anaesthetic in a heap of pain, however, in 10 minutes it started to subside to the point of no pain relief. Is your FS giving you a curette whilst he is in there? I have read and heard that a ‘clean out’ increases fertility.

Cillile – Good on you for really thinking of every possibility to receive your child. Im the same….I need to know that when my reproductive time is over, I have left no stone unturned. Don’t despair at 44…..I am 45 (fast approaching 46) and I am still trying. Age is a number….prove the stats wrong with me!!!

Mum4nay – How are you travelling on the DHEA? Is the DHEA still affecting AF?

Tryingreallyhard – Congrats on speaking with a psychologist….its not an easy decision to make at times, but I personally think they are so worth it. Are you currently cycling for your FET?

Lilbirdy – Welcome back. Any news when you start your FET?

Lilly40 – OMG, you have been through so much. Keep your feet up and rest…..do you have ‘cabin fever’ yet?

Otgirl – Its been a wait, but congrats on finally cycling. Sorry about the rain/ex-cyclone….hope everything is okay now…..I wish the damn thing never came near Australia.

Micca – WOW, you are so close now….it only seems like yesterday that I was reading of your BFP. Good luck and sending you lots of positive vibes for your birth plan. Cant wait to see a photo of her…..that’s a hint!!!!

    AFM
We finally have the power back on and it is wonderful not getting bags of ice every other day!!! We got a little bit of damage to our roof, fence palings blown off (actually blew the nails out!) and a neighbour’s tree snapped off at the truck, but luckily blew it over the fence into our backyard and not through or on the fence. We are extremely lucky and I think Cairns is saying that too. If the cyclone had not taken a turn to the south at the last minute, then most of Cairns would be without roofs. The wind was unbelievable and sounded like a jet engine hovering over head. We had 2 girlfriends staying with us, as they were mandatory evacuees and told they must leave their homes….so we had 4 adults, 3 dogs and 2 cats. I feel so very very sorry for those at Cardwell, Tully, Mission Beach etc…..it is/was so pretty there.

AF came with Cyclone Yasi……what the??!! Now I just have to wait for Day 21 for my first scan and HGH injection. Then stimming shortly after that and also take oestrogen pessaries from Day 1. FS didn’t agree to the Colorado Protocol in full, however, he is doing a version of it.

It has been so nice being IVF free for the last month or so, but I am now looking forward to getting back into it.

To anyone I have missed, hello and hoping you are travelling well on your IVF journeys.

    Hello Ladies

Firstly my thoughts are with all those affected by the floods and the fires over the last month. Hoping all the ladies here are all ok

Well I have been MIA again due to being put back into hospital last week. I have only just gotten internet access and its very slow this is the second time Im trying to post this message so fingers crossed it posts.

I have lots of catching upto do but have been thinking of you all during the past few weeks.

Well I am 19 weeks now and bub is growing well and is healthy jumping around. I can now feel him move and he has a very strong heartbeat. So all is good with my boy just me thats letting the team down. I am having problems with my blood clotting and a short cervix, cervix is strong just short. I will not be going home now and the goal is to get through the next 5 weeks with out any incidents where we will have a viable pregnancy. So my life as we know it is now revolved around staying in bed in hospital and bed baths.

I have no doubt that this little boy will be coming home with me as he is already a fighter and a survivor.

Im looking forward to reading up on everyones progress and posting personals over the next few days. I have been thinking of you all and I hope this finds you all well.

    Love to all X

sunny15- welcome back. Glad not too much damage from cyclone except maybe early AF. Hopefully this time you go that extra step and get BFP with excellent numbers. Good luck. What other days do you do HGH? wazza reckons to do it right costs about $5000 as he does 18 ampoules???? Day 21 not that far off so not too much waiting

Lilly40- so glad to hear that pregnancy is continuing with your little devil. Ooh hospital food and bed baths -how lucky can a girl get..not. Hopefully you get over 30 weeks ( if we are going to wish may as well make it 37 weeks).

hopin4asticky1- congrats on results of scan. One more step down for you on the way to holding bub. The rest of pregnancy will fly hopefully

Micca- are you getting excited yet not long to go for you at all. Have you finished working yet?

otgirl- good luck with scan BT and intralipid infusion tomorrow. Let us know all the details of the infusion

    Hi
had my CD8 scan today which showed about 6 follicles only. A bit disappointed as last cycle got 13 eggs even though average before was 4-5. Next scan on tues with EPU probably on Friday. FS gave me option to cancel cycle and can decide after next scan but will continue unless something goes completely haywire. It only takes one right. I was hoping to go to blasts this time based on numbers from last cycle but I dont think that will be in the cards now

Hi Sunny - I am glad the damage wasn't too bad from the cyclone. Yeah - ready to cycle. Lets show them that old doesn't mean unsuccessful.

Lilly40 - glad to hear from you again and glad that all is well with Bub. I can't imagine staying in hospital that long but it will be worth it in the long term. My girlfriend had twins at 26 weeks and they are both healthy happy normal 8 year old now so don't stress to much (but keep your legs crossed as long as possible!)

Wannabb - I know 8 follies doesn't seem much but I will swap with you in a heartbeat. Good luck with your next scan.

Mammalinz - I hope you are not too stressed. It will be over before you know it.

Hi everyone else - I am not really sure where everyone is travelling at the moment and don't have enough time to go back through and find out.

AFM - Scan today - only two follies - one 19mm and 1 slightly smaller. Went across to FS for intralipid infusion and discussed this with him - should we cancel or go ahead. He said the latest research indicated that with "older women" (I wish he would stop saying that - he is at least 60, I should be young to him!!!) cancelling a cycle due to few eggs is not advised as the next cycle is likely to be no better. As we all say, you only need one but I was hoping for 3 or 4. Probably having EPU Monday - waiting for confirmation call. They don't want the big one to go over. Intralipid infusion was just a drip in the arm for just over an hour being swapped back and forth with saline. Arm is a bit sore now when typing but otherwise no after affects. 4 more injections today (already had 2) and then maybe only 4 tomorrow depending upon EPU.

Talked to FS about Greece today - had a captive audience when he was setting up the infusion. He said you can't bring the eggs back with you but they will keep them there for you if you have to try again. You usually get about 10 but it is a matter of how many the donor can supply.

otgirl- sorry about only 2 follies but have been told it only takes one so it is THE one for you or twins would be good yeah? Glad the intralipid went okay. I have been looking at ED too and especially os as not good at waiting. So far have looked at South Africa. How much does Greece cost and what clinic does he use. You can pm me if you want. I have info on Cape Fertility if you want me to pm you. Good luck for EPU monday hon

Lilly40 – good to hear that bub is healthy and strong. Hospital bed rest and bed baths will be a distant memory once you hold your boy in your arms. Thinking of you and I hope the next 5 to 6 weeks travel by without incident. Good luck.

Wannabb – This next cycle I am taking HGH on Day 21, 2, 4 and 6. The last cycle I only had 3 HGH injections at Day 21, 2 and 4. However, I had HGH injections on 3 occasions which ended up being cancelled/postponed cycles. So all up, I had 6 HGH injections from 11 June to 9 December…..FS said that the earlier injections from cancelled cycles still had affect in my body. Are you doing HGH with your current cycle? Good luck with your scan on Tuesday…here’s hoping that another couple of sneaky follies appear over the next couple of days.

Otgirl – I can understand your disappointment on follie numbers. Yes, it only takes one good one, but I understand the frustration of not having more follies/eggs to ‘boost’ your chances. One good quality is all you need…..and hope it’s a future doctor to specialise in IVF and the mature woman!!! Lets us know if your EPU has been scheduled for tomorrow.

    Hello to everyone.

    AFM
Im just waiting, waiting for Day 21. A little nervous, as I have rediscovered life without IVF and Im enjoying it. Im thinking that this may be my last cycle with my own eggs, so Im hoping for good numbers, like some of you ladies.

My little Jack Russell had to have an op on Friday….it ended up being a tumour and I will find out next week if it is cancer or not. I had my little cry with him yesterday, I cant imagine life with out him….the 2 of us have been through so much.

Must go, I am organising a girlfriends 40th for May….we are heading to Port Douglas for her birthday weekend. Wonder if I will be pregnant or not!!!

    Hello ladies,
I was wondering if I might be able to join this thread. We have just failed our 5th cycle of ivf and am wondering where to go to from here. This last cycle incuded HGH Saizen and I don't feel that the result was worth the time effort or money, although I am told it may effect the next batch of eggs. I am what is known as a poor responder and don't get many follicles or mature eggs, and whilst we get embies they never seem to stick -- AF came yet again before the blood test and that was with the edition of Clexane and Crinone.
Any suggestions for next steps or good news stories from those in a simialr situation would be welcome -- I feel time is running out.
