Has anyone heard of the small miracles foundation..... Its nice they acknowledge the fertility issues and the babies much wanted but not conceived...
Small Miracles Foundation
This week we remember the babies we couldn't conceive, the babies we carried but never got to meet, the babies born sleeping, those we held but could not take home, or the ones who made it home but couldn't stay for long.
I am lighting lots of virtual candles for all of us

Gardenia - good luck with your natural 2WW
Pinky - what a sweetie you are - thanks for the candle
AFM - not too hopeful here - I'm spotting and feelin' really menstrual so I think it's over for me. I guess I'll probably go for BT if a 'normal' period doesn't arrive by monday.... but can't help remembering that I didn't lose a drop when PG with DS

Slinky – sorry i have no knowledge re: thyroid isssues but agree with starfish to PM lindylou from the Sydney thread. She has recently been to a specialist. Have you ever had thyroid issues before? Or was this just picked up at your new FS’s screen?
Also can i ask why they test your oestrogen to make sure its not too high before transfer?
Hope you are doing well and putting your feet up when you can!
Mum4nay – no no stay away evil AF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gardenia – well good on your for having your own TWW – gotta be more fun than IVF too!
Spot – hope your cycle is going well
Starfish – more
AFM – day 3 and we have one embie that seems to have stalled at 4 cells, two at 5 cells and one on track at 8 cells so keeping everything crossed we have at least one quality embie to transfer on Saturday and the others get a wriggle on!!! Nervewracking days!
02-06-2011 21:37 #805
MUM4NAY - Im praying it isnt so!!
PINKBUTTERFLY - Thats sounding great with your embies they can speed up also. sounds like there is a clear winner with your 8 cell one hoping the others catch up also. so your going to blast off then. Not long now and you will be PUPO everything crossed for you
AFM - Well this left over prog support im taking is givng me symptoms. Oh how I missed the 2ww - not! maybe this is a practice run to see if I can handle the torture of the 2ww. who knows I will be guided im sure. I think I counted that Ive done 6 or 7 of the buggers with ivf - how i stayed sane I dunno no wonder i got so happy when I gave that up. You ladies deserve bravery medals!

starfish - So sorry to hear of your cycle outcome. I totally agree with others that it's much better to have found out what you did early, rather than continue to invest emotional energy in the cycle only to result in more heartache further down the track. I hope you can get some really good distance from everything, and some emotional downtime for DH and yourself, so that you can think clearly about what you want to do next. Probably good not to even think about things too much for a while, but keep on with the liquid lunches . Really thinking of you lovely. Your courage and bravery are truly inspirational
PinkB - have absolutely everything crossed that you get that beautiful blast by Saturday Beautiful gesture on the small miracles foundation Re your question on oestrogen - I didn't get too many details from the clinic but they said that the pre-transfer day BT is really to check that the environment in the uterus is OK for transfer, so I'm assuming they don't like the E2 to be too toxically high. That said, it was still in the 4000s I think ie not exactly low, so I guess there's a fairly wide definition of what is OK. On my first stim cycle back in 2005 I had E2 around 18,000 and got a BFP.
mum4nay - hoping your inkling does not prove correct It ain't over til it's over.
Gardenia - good luck with the natural 2WW. Exc idea to test the waters again to see if you feel ready to wade back in.
spot - have you started jabbing yet?
AFM - thanks starfish for the tip re lindylou. Will PM her. My thyroid thing is really weird. FS tested it as a standard screen and level of TSH was 2.2. She likes it to be under 2 so put me on low dose of medication. When tested this week, it had gone UP to 4 - the meds were meant to bring it down. So very odd. She suggested they might have caught the start of onset of thyroid disease Not getting too concerned about that, but the result on day of transfer did rain on my parade a little. Nothing can be done about it now, so have to just get on with it. Have upped dose of meds and have to just cross fingers.... Back to work today and settling into the uncertainty of PUPO-dom. Thanks for all the support lovelies

SLINKY - Not sure if I said congrats on being PUPO. And all the best of luck for this cycle. when is your BT? do you have any plans over the weekend to pass the time and keep busy?
AFM - We are thinking of going away this weekend. from where we live the closest 2 drives to go really are port stephens or wisemans ferry. Id love to do port stephens but my inlaws live there so wed have to visit them and well wed be paying for accomodation to only spend most of the time at the inlaws. darn it theres alot to do up there. Not sure if wisemans will be too boring? anyone know?

Mum4nay, ahhh bl00dy spotting! Can mean so many things, not all bad. I'm still keeping everything crossed your little one is hanging in there
Slinky, I hope the thyroid issues are a total non starter and will have absolutely no bearing on your cycle. I also hope your work is not stressful and can be a place of good distraction for the 2ww Did you other embie make it to the freezer?
PinkB, clearly I cannot count! Of course your transfer is tomorrow, duh! for morulas today and a "blast off" on Saturday!! (I liked that one Gardenia!)
Gardenia, all the best for your natural 2ww! I agree one day they will just used PGD as a standard tool, I think in the States they use it a lot more often. Sadly atm I think the cost is quite prohibitive for many people. Wiseman's Ferry is a lovely little village with other nice little villages around. Wouldn't be much to do at WF itself in the winter time I wouldn't think (but maybe that's what you are after), it is a big wakeboarding/water skiing mecca. We camped there in January on the frickin hottest night of year! (43C) Never again (for the camping I mean! ).
Hiero, good luck for your PGD cycle. I think you have a really excellent chance of finding a good un' in there with your 9 frosties Please keep us posted, having just been through this I'm more than happy to metaphorically hold your hand. I also hope you are getting some really good treatment for the anxiety

AFM, the overwhelming emotion I feel at the moment is relief, but of course I am sad that we haven't been able to pull a rabbit out of the hat. It has been a REALLY stressful cycle with all the issues along the way, NOTHING really went to plan and then to get only 2 mature eggs and get them both to blast, well that really sums up our dilemma! What to do with that info
It's also not the 1st time we have gotten 100% fert rate, 100% to blast but then ended in MC/chem preg. So that is a more consistent pattern. For me it would be easier to move on if we weren't getting eggs and they weren't making it consistently to day 5. I am so glad that we went ahead with PGD with the 2 because the strong temptation was to put them BOTH put back on day 3 (when they were both looking great) and it would have ended in disaster for sure.
DH and I are both looking forward to relaxing the healthy living regime having practically lived like Tibetan monks for the last 6 months We had a lovely long lunch over a bottle of wine on Wed, I am having another one today with a girlfriend and we have a party tonight

As Starf1sh has said, I do often lurk in here to keep tabs on my Sydney buddies, but also because I find you gals are so inspirational with the support, strength and knowledge you share. Even though its cyberspace, you've obviously got a great bond going in here.
I do wonder though, why has typo in your thread title never been fixed? UVFers... lol. Sentimental value perhaps considering you're up to #11?
Anyways, just popped in to tell Slinky to fire away with any thyroid Q's, either here or via PM. Happy to shed some light if I can.

Lindlou Hi and thanks for helping slinky!
Starfish – you are a hell of a tough IVF warrior!!! I agree, your blast rate and fert rate is fantastic – even out of an oversupressed cycle – do the embryologists or Dr S have any feedback? or is it “bad luck” as they say!
Well cast off your robes yee Tibetan monks and cut loose I say! Enjoy
Slinky thanks for the info, your clinic sound v.thorough!
Gardenia – Ive only ever been to the pub at Wisemans and waterskiiing too, not sure what else is there??? Peace and quiet maybe!
AFM – well update today is we have 1 morula and 2 early morulas plus one 6 cell going slow! There are 2 A grades in the morulas so crossing everything we have something to transfer tomorrow morning. We have tickets for a kids concert for DD tomorrow at the opera house a few hrs after transfer – do you thinks its ok to go with loud music/vibration??? Starting to think its really down to the chromosomes?? and even if i stand on my head, lie under the doona etc it won’t make a difference???
