Pink, I so hope this cycle comes good for you - your are so right to call it a rollercoaster - I just hope it is one that ends in a BFP for you.
Slinky, I think it can't hurt to get a second opinion, even if it just confirms you are right to stay with your current FS. In my case I also had problems with my clinic, as well as my FS, and did a great deal of research on the different approaches - my new clinic is more blood test driven during cycling, whereas the old clinic did relatively little blood testing, preferring to rely on ultrasound. My GP was an invaluable source of advice - he is very plugged into the specialist network and really listened to my concerns with the old FS and thought through the issues, before giving me a referral to 2 new FSs. My DH was very supportive - he pointed out we test drove 4 cars before deciding on our preferred make and model, but had gone straight to the first FS we were referred to, so maybe it was good - even belatedly - to 'test drive' a few FSs! We took copies of all of our blood tests, treatment protocols for the failed cycles etc to the appointments, so we could get the most out of them. We decided the second FS was the one for us because she seemed more focused on finding out why I wasn't conceiving, rather than just throwing her preferred protocol at us - also she seemed to have more experience with secondary infertility. Like Pink I am sure the FS and nurses roll their eyes at me for the self-advocating, but I figure I've got more skin in the game than they do, so they can just suck it up! Good luck with whatever decision you make, and I hope it is all unnecessary, and that this month brings you your miracle
Sabah, I so hope this one is your golden one - sounds to me like the Saizen has really helped to give you a great embie - I am hoping and praying that this one is the sticky one for you
Starfish, Good luck with the PGD. I so hope it brings you the answers you need to get a sticky one.
Mum4Nay, scan is on the 7th. Still cramping but no bleeding so all okay I guess? FS says cramping is expected in an IVF pregnancy after a stim cycle so not to worry. Hope she is right.
Good luck with your donor meeting this week - hope it all goes well
Hi Millie, good to hear from you How are things going with you?

Trying, sounds like you are in the right hands with new FS, having someone tailor things to your individual situation and having confidence in them is often half the battle! All looking good that your FS got this one right first go Bet you are hanigng out for the 7th?!
Slinkymalinki, A ha! Is the Hairy McLairy series a favourite of your kids? with the others. I am onto my 2nd FS and wouldn't hesitate to consult a 3rd if I thought it would change anything. Unfortuntely as you all know I haven't had a super sticky bub but my FS is proactive, willing to try new things and yes the man actually emails me back within a day generally (even on weekends! ). Anyway hope this becomes a moot conversation because you will be UTD from this IUI!
As for my EPU date PGD cycles are 'batched' due to the testing that has to occur. They try to do them in a certain timeframe so give you an EPU date and then work backwards with the pill, suppressant and stim meds etc. I did ask them about how precise this date was and they reassured me it would change if the follies weren't mature, whew!
Sabah, your embie sounds really fantastic!!! Please IVF gods let this be Sabah's golden one!
PinkB, sounds like you've got some nice follies starting to happen there! Hope Monday brings even better news and great E2 numbers
Fiona, if you're out there hope TCM is going great guns!
Would love to hear an update on how you and little one are going DrMummy?
Sending much love and to Hiero, Mum4nay, Always, Melk, Millie and anyone else I've missed
AFM, EPU date is still a loooong way off, but I have started the pill and DH and I are into full prep mode and living by TCM principles with our eating, keeping warm etc, chugging our vitamins and yucky chinese herbs and having weekly acupuncture. Giving all we've got to this cycle but my struggle is still to try and find the balance between hope and despair! In some moments it feels like such an extreme step that we've taken but on the other hand we have had 10 embryos transferred, most of these transfers have implanted but still no healthy baby on the horizon. We couldn't even get there with a miracle natural BFP!
However, I feel a little calmer as we are lucky enough to have something of a back up plan in place as my younger sister has recently offered to become an ED if we need it. God love her it brought me to tears when she made this offer, however it has really forced that conversation of how far we as a couple would be prepared to go to achieve to achieve our dream of a family.
Still really hoping that with 8 months on DHEA, saizen on board and all that good living that there just might be a normal healthy embie coming our way

Sabah - FANTASTIC NEWS!!!! PUPO - Cheering that little one on here. I hope you feel that all the extra over steps you've taken have been worth it - certainly looks that way. When is your BT? Hope you're taking things easy. Sending you lots and lots of
PinkB - I'm not sure what your history is, but those follie numbers look good! Hope they've done some more lovely growing over the weekend - very best of luck for the scan and BT tomorrow.
Starf1sh - yes, my kids love the Hairy Maclary bunch. Pretty sure I can recite several of the books in my sleep, including slinkymalinki!! Wow - the PGD process sounds amazing. Good to know that EPU date is not completely set in stone, if you're not quite there! That is wonderful news about your younger sister offering to be ED. What a gift. Like others, though, I so hope that everything you are throwing at this process really pays off and that you get your sticky one this time. I didn't realise until now that you'd had 10 transfers. You have gone through more than enough c'mon the sticky!!!
Melk - you must be really popping out by now. How are you feeling with it all? Glowing, I hope, and getting lots of little poking feet and elbows.
thanks so much to all of you - trying, sabah, PinkB, Starf1sh - for the responses on second opinion. It hadn't actually occurred to me just to get an opinion. I'd been thinking of jumping for good, but you're definitely all right that I can just go for the opinion and then make up my mind.
trying - you are something of an inspiration. Seems like you took a very methodical, committed and smart approach to your situation. All your hard work and excellent self-advocacy has really paid off. Because we've only had a very small number of cycles so far in TTC#3, I guess we don't have a great deal of information re possible problems. At this stage I feel that the most likely thing is that it hasn't worked (yet) because of my age. What I wonder is whether a different FS (through Sydney IVF - which claims to have one of the best success rates, and that 95% of patients who succeed do so within the first 1-3 cycles) would be doing something different, as a matter of course, for a woman of my age. I guess the best thing to do is go along and talk to her and then decide what to do.... Can't wait to hear the results of your scan on the 7th
E2 on day 7 of IUI cycle was low (150). Will go back in on Tuesday for another BT.

thanks everyone for your well wishes...
Slinky - good luck with the IUI and bt tomorrow... new FS also sounds very sensible, why not?
Sabah - yay, is this your best ever cycle then re quality of your embryo!!? I've got everything crossed for you, surely it's your turn for a bfp next
Starfish - I agree Dr S is excellent on email. I've only done it twice and feel so guily each time as he answers at 10pm at night! He works too hard!!
Wonderful news about your sister, shows how much she loves ya! I'm sure you won't need it though if Dr S is confident you WILL get pregnant and have that healthy bub! PGD does sound scary but a very good idea to really find out what's happening, so a very positive step.
Hey, did anyone watch Insight on SBS last week on Baby Business - it's mainly about surrogacy and touches on donor issues too - you can watch online if you're interested...

Starfish – so glad your on the road, it would seem strange to take the pill! May 20 seems a while off but will be here before we know it. Hope this is your time. How wonderful is your sister – lovely to know she is willing to do that if you need. I am sure though your BFP is on the way... soon! PLEASE UNIVERSE!
Slinky – hope BT went well. Yes, this cycle isn’t my worst follicle count and they are nice and even in size but lowest oestrogen levels this cycle which isn’t good for egg maturity.
Tryingfortwo- hope all going well with you.
Sabah – hope the TWW treating you well
Mum4nay – yes I have started to watch that insight episode online – very interesting. Hope ur well.
AFM – Cycle not cancelled yet which is progress! I have 5 follicles probably ready tomorrow but pushing for Friday EPU to give oestrogen time to increase, hopefully we don’t lose any. Back for scan and BT tom morning so fingers crossed. Feeling more normal on the prednisone now and can sleep again, not looking fwd to the dose doubling

Good morning lovely ladies,
I apologise again for being so retarded in my communications but work is very hectic and leaving me quite exhausted by the end of the day. But I'm currently sitting in an empty tute room for 3 hours just in case any students need to talk about their upcoming assessment task. What a f'n total waste of time 'cos they're not going to show up Friday morning if they don't need to. Should be doing some writing but I've have done so much over the last 11 days and there'll be more to come on the weekend
Sabah - I hope the 2WW is treating you well and that your perfect embie has snuggled in for the long haul
Trying42 - I hope you are traveling well too and staying sane leading up to your scan.
Slinky - how was your BT? I hope your levels have picked up. Will you be having a follicle scan too? Don't get too hung up on going a clinic that promotes a high success rate because more often than not they will focus on normal responder patients that will succeed in 1-3 cycles. You can't really know what your situation may be until you do a cycle and see how you respond. But hopefully you won't need IVF as this IUI will get you over the line with a BFP
PinkButterfly - how was your scan? 5 follicles sounds great to me and I hope they all carry top quality eggies. Glad the Pred side-effects have settled now.
Starfish - I'm so glad you've got other options now. I hope that PGD finds you your sticky emby first go. My younger sister is only 18 mths younger than me but she also offered to be a donor for even though she was unable to conceive a second child. Sadly we could not take her up on that offer because she is just too emotionally unstable to be a donor.
Mum4nay - almost cycle time again? It's a great relief that you have found a donor that you are comfortable with. But I also hope that you can succeed in your own cycle. At very worst you will be certain that you tried everything.
Spot - I'm so sorry that your cycle was not the one. I hope you are OK. Have you had any further insight from your FS? Or is your gut telling you what your next step(s) should be? It is just not fair
Hiero - I hope you are doing well. Have you decided what next? This whole business is so hard.
Millie - I hope you are very well too. Do you have another candidate donor or are you looking at different options.
Always - how is motherhood treating you? I hope everything is running smoothly and that you are all well. It's great the step-kids are so involved. We haven't yet told DH's family that we used donor sperm so we don't quite know how the step-kids will be once they know. At the moment they are very excited and given that they grew up with step-siblings from their mum's second hubbie we are hoping that they will still accept bubby as one of their own. The ironic thing is that this bubby will be the only one of DH's kids to carry his name as his evil ex-wife changed the kids names to her 2nd husband's name without DH's consent. His eldest daughter is getting married today and can't wait to change her name. Unfortunately evil ex has banned DH and his mum (the only living grand-parent) from the wedding. Need I say anything more about her......
Melk - I'm so glad everything is going well for you. As difficult as it is for us to actually believe, it is real at very long last
Big hellos to everyone else, long lost friends, graduates etc.
AFM Well, just as I thought no students have turned up and I am now desperate for a cuppa (decaf naturally) & snack. Everything is going very well and I'm in the obviously pregnant but "glowing" stage. I'm certain the swollen and blotchy stage is just around the corner though. Having to take it easy on the stairs and take the lift if I'm carrying things but otherwise trying to stay active without overdoing it. Our 19 week scan was "totally normal" (they can't use the term "perfect" although we like to) and we did not find out what team bubby is on. Our Ob wanted me to start leave at the start of June (~31 weeks) as he is still concerned about premature labour but my maternity leave does not cover that unless he believes I am a huge risk so we are going to see how I go. I may take sick leave if necessary. Tiny little T2 is still there and the sac has not reabsorbed yet which is why he is concerned. But because it is up the top and out of the way, he is hoping it will not rupture. Big bubby is growing well and doing somersaults as I write. I think of you all often and check in when I can but the days seem to be getting shorter and shorter so communication is limited. I wish you all the very best

Well it's quiet here?? Is everyone hibernating in preparation for day light savings finishing next week??
Pinky - thinking of you today Don't they say that cycles that are a little slower just give more chance for the eggs to mature and be better quality? Hoping this is your time...
DrMummy - good girl turning up for the Fri am session... at least we got a post out of you and your time wasn't wasted he he! Glad you're glowing and everything is 'normal' AND 'perfect'.
AFM - Well the clinic was particularly useless this cycle and didn't send me scripts etc??? SO, I got onto them to complain (I'm meant to be starting tomorrow!) and they said that the orgalutron has arrived. So change of plan and I'm doing a short cycle next period. I'm pleased about it as I've never tried it before. Lucky last...
Meanwhile, my PED arrives tomorrow - yikes! All the preliminary stuff (counselling, dr appointments/testings) is next week, so I'm hoping it all works out ok.
Bye for now,
