    Sausage Casserole

    Sausages $4
    Onion (optional)
    Curry powder
    Tin crushed tomatoes $1
    Rice, potato or pasta to serve $1


    Cook and dice sausages (and onion if using) fry off curry powder, toss in sausages and tomatoes and let simmer. Serve with rice or potatoes.

    Cheap snacks

    chocolate rope (makes 30)
    2 sheets of puff pastry
    nutella

    coat one sheet of puff pastry with nutella cover with other sheet. cut in half then slice 1 cm strips. Twist each strip before place it on a tray. cook until light brown.
    Yummo

    Nutella can replace with jam, vegemite and cheese, pretty much anything.


    Pin wheels (make 15)


    1 sheet of pastry
    tomato paste
    cheese
    mixed herbs
    filling of your choice is so desired (we like pineapple and diced
    bacon)

    coat pastry with tomato paste. Sprinkle filling herbs and filling you like (you can do just herbs if you like)
    sprinkle with grated cheese.
    roll up and cut into 1 cm rolls. bake until pastry is cooked


    scrolls makes (20 to 30)
    300 ml cream
    370 mls of lemonade (homebrand $1.10 for 2 ltrs work well)
    4 cups of SR flour
    extra flour for table

    for cinnamon
    melted butter
    sugar
    cinnamon

    for pizza
    tomato paste
    filling of choice
    cheese

    In a very large bowl put in flour, make a well pour in cream than lemonade, it will bubble. mix. tip out on a floured table. knead as little as possible. using your hands shape into a rectangle and gentle push out into a large rectangle keeping the dough even as possible until it is as thin as possible without tearing.

    - for cinnamon coat with melted butter, sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon

    - for coat with tomato paste and then fillings and cheese.


    roll the two ends into the middle. cut between the rolls. than cut into 1 cm rounds. cook in a hot oven.

    - cinnamon drizzle with lemon icing (lemon jucie and icing sugar)

    Frittata's are fantastic and cheap- you can add anything to them (left overs from last night)They are quick to make too. If you do have the money just team it up with a bit of steak or add some chicken to the actual frittata.

    I also remember living out of home- putting myself through school and one staple was pasta and pasta sauce. VERY CHEAP.

    i make spag bol using mince n a can of tomato soup. my 2 absolutely love. my 3 yr old is a fussy eat but he'll finish his plate n ask 4 more

    Am glad this thread got revived I have just started back at full time work after maternity leave plus we have just brought a new house so was looking for some cheap but yummy dinner meals and snacks for ds1 at school thank you Ladies.
    We love the coles 4 pack of chicken kieves that you bake in oven for 20min then while they are cooking either do up a salad or veggies to go with it. I also love the aldi marinated fetta is half the price of the ones you get at coles or woolies but still as tasty

    So glad I saw this thread! Due to a whole lot of bills and issues we have $30 to do our groceries this week lucky I have some bacon in the freezer and we already had cereal and milk! Lots of these ideas will come in handy, thanks for making this week seem easier!
