The Albert Road Clinic is a private clinic, not publicly funded

I'm not sure, but I would think that the Werribee Mercy MB unit would be the closest to Bendigo. They have a good reputation.

    Good luck

If you can get to Melbourne, Tweedle is in Footscray which is really easy to get to from Bendigo (I grew up around that area )
    Straight up the freeway.
You could take both kids and do their 4 night stay.
Watch out for Roz, the family therapist there, that woman is a living legend!

Tweddle is not actually a Mother Baby unit in the mental health sense of the term. It's a sleep/settling clinic.

A Mother Baby unit is an inpatient (ie hospital) stay program for mothers with mental health difficulties, such as post natal depression or post partum psychosis. They're designed for short, medium and long term stays, depending on the severity of the mental health difficulty, and are staffed by mental health clinicians - ie psychiatric nurses, OTs, social workers, and psychologists with specialist training in mental health, as well as psychiatrists.

    Hiya.

I have visited someone staying at Austin/repat mbu. That was a while ago though. I know they have a new mental health facility at the Austin now but I'm not sure if it caters for pre/ante natal depression.

Have you called PANDA? They have some great advice and referrals.

    Huge hugs

I would strongly recommend North Park Private MBU in Melb (north suburbs). They have a fantastic program, and Professor Anne Buist is one of the lead psychiatrists there, she ahs done some wonderful work and research.

Tweedle is just around the corner from me, I'm pretty sure they do alot of things besides sleep issues and they have a psychology unit although I have no idea if its inpatient? I know they have a breastfeeding program now too.

Oh yeah and I went there about 4 years ago for anxiety and I thought it was good too, it helped me alot. I was covered with phi because they treat it as a hospital stay and I just payed my excess, just check your phi op, its usually covered with a top cover under 'psychiatric'.

Ah right. Sorry. They do take people with PND though, and have a resident pyschologist. Just mabye not as well equipped as a MBU.

Anyone know this? Like if a mum has a new baby and gets PND can she take her 3 year old too? Or if a mum has had issues since her 2 year old was born and hasn't got help yet, can she still take 2 year old? How does it work logistically?
