Default TTC for over a year and getting nowhere

    Hi ladies

I'm new to the forum - found this site by searching and it seems you're pretty well known, so I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice.

I'm 33 years old - turning 34 next March, and hubby just turned 30 last week. We got married in December 2008 and have been trying for a bub since March 2009. I had a suspected miscarriage in February this year (GP said it was probably just a "weird" period... pfft). But we're battling to fall pregnant.

I've been charting my BBT for over a year and it's just up and down and all over the place. My period seems pretty regular (not 100%, but around the 30 day mark).

Now, here comes the health issues... I have auto-immune Hashimoto's Thyroiditis (under active) and am on Thyroxine for it. My new Doc (who is a GP and OB/Gyn) has just increased my dosage 2 weeks ago when I went for a whole lot of tests. I also have auto-immune Coeliac disease. Also diagnosed 2 weeks ago. She says that this is the reason I'm infertile.

She's referring me to the Mater Mothers Hospital because they're running some pilot programme with a midwife, which she says will help me and they can arrange for me to see a nutritionist for the Coeliac at the same time.

Has anyone had any similar issues, and can you recommend anything? I'm so desperate to have a baby and when I see all my sisters and friends having babies and falling pregnant, it just depresses me, and that's not helping me fall pregnant either.

I'd appreciate any help or advice you could give me.

    Thank you.

    Hi Sandals,

Since you live on the Gold Coast, I'd encourage you to contact Sharkeys Healing Centre. Its a naturopathic clinic famous for specialising in infertility. They have helped many ladies with thyroid, coeliac, PCOS, and heaps of other conditions. The lady who runs it (Stacey Roberts) is nicknamed 'The Babymaker'.

They will look at your temp charts and work out exactly whats going on and what needs to be improved. I'm not one of their success stories yet, but our issues are on my DH's side, and thanks to their help his sperm count went up by 10 times and we had 6 excellent quality embryos on our first IVF cycle. Just now waiting for one to stay put!

I wish you all the best with your TTC-ing
