    Wink building a boat.....

my house looks like a chinese laundry - can it rain any harder or longer in melbourne???? sorry ladies but i need some drying sunshine!!!!

Sooz - how awesome; you sound like you are rocking and rolling along with your pregnancy... i bet you are enjoying every single second of it!!!

hoping - how's your needle technique coming along, bet you are a master of the pen by now...

cillile - &*%^$### is all i can say... but i know you'll work out your next steps and get your plan of action underway...

otgirl - for you babe; i know you too will get a plan sorted and actioned for next stage; we get knocked down too often hey! &*^^%!

Lilly - when they were handing out 'tact' i'm afraid not alot of IVF personnel got large doses; sometimes i think the FN's don't know what to say so they come up with some piece of useless tripe; they should just stay quiet...
new clinic, new FS = new plan and that has to be a move in the right direction xxx

Soclose - nearly there for your re-commence of the love of a daily needle - no chance of being needle phobic on this train - good luck with everything in between xxx

MINIBAR - OMG so proud of you - 30wks unbelieveable - how are you going along? feeling ok? bet you are loving seeing your toes disappearing under your tum x

Micca - so that means 'bob' might be a 'bobbie' or maybe 'bobette'? lol x

Sunny15 - i can hear your fingers tapping on the table top, waiting, waiting... we all have the patience of a saint - keep on keeping on!

thanks to everyone for the info on the great debate '2 or 1' : in the past (my eggs) always have had 2 - but now with difference of a younger donor in the mix, i wonder what my FS will recommend.... will let you know...

AFM - Scan fri all good, lining nice and thin; starting popping Progynova fri - my donor has started jabbing (god that girl is a legend, makes me tear up everytime i think of her...) another scan for both of us fri and all going well we'll be heading for EPU / ET next week....
poor DP is under the pump for no stimulants (caffeine etc) and i'm feeding him up on all things great.... i wonder how many ways i can serve him oysters and i think he's pretty much over the spinach sandwiches - lol
have a great week everyone xxx

Lilly..sorry to hear that the FN was nasty and tactless... I had that with my FN as well... so not impressed...lets hope that the new FS has some positivity and surprises for you...fingers crossed... bet you are glad you are leaving them...

Andygee...lets hope that the donor has a star egg round and with all your effort DH has some stunning swimmers... great that you are starting..next week you will be PUPO woohoo....xxx when you get your BFP all the hardship is so quickly forgotten...

otgirl...grrrrr #$%*##$ for the BFN... duck it...!!!. lets hope that you try something different..have you tried the prednione at epu-et yet??? ask about different stimulating cycle ie colarado or estrogen priming ... good luck for you..and lots of hugs

Sunny I hope that you have a good result from your op.. fingers crossed that it is all good and you can cycle soon... fingers crossed I hope that you fell comfortable after the op and get a little spoiled...

soclose.... stabbin n jabbin time...lets hope that those follies grow grow grow... I always took royal jelly during my stim cycle and Im sure it helped with the follie growth and kept them growing evenly.

cillie...how are you gong post BFN..I hope that plans are forming for you...lets hope that the super frostie is your BFP...

Hoping.... hows the stabbin n jabbin going..lets see some fantastic follies from you....

well the news is all good on the amniocenteisis front... all my chromosomes were ok, and its confirmed that I am having a little girl...so bob is now babette...woohoo.. it is just such a huge relief to pass this major hurdle... Im ready to acknowlege that I am preggers now and feel safe enough to tell people.
So I have been telling work and it has been wonderful everyone is just so happy for me and so supportive babette has aunts everywhere... I have been very honest with everyone about it being IVF and donor sperm and people are really pleased that I did it and achieved my dream.. Its just been such a relief...
We think that the BFP is the easy bit but certainly getting pregnant with old eggs has its own sets of worry you begin to think that IVF was the easy part..lol... oh how quickly you forget... I hope that you all can be strong and perservere until you get that BFP...
look at our successes... kismet 43, me 42, minibar...41.. So dont loose hope... just try and continue as long as you are able...... because we all have a pregnancy in us....

lots of love to you all and I hope we have a few more BFPs before christmas... xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Sorry Ladies, it has been a while since my last post!! Hope you are all doing well.

Micca - so happy for you that the results are good and that you have told everyone. It must be a relief to have those results. Congratulations also on your little girl. Hopefully now you can relax a little and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy. It can happen to us over 40's.... we are using you as our inspiration!! Can I ask where/how you take the royal jelly? Can you buy it from chemists? I have at some point taken almost everything I read about, but have never done royal jelly or COQ10, which I bought yesterday.

Andy Gee - how exciting. Not long till you will be PUPO. Keep giving DH those spinach/oyster sandwiches! I have to get my DH to give up the coffee, that's always the hardest one. I just sneak decaff into the coffee machine and see if he notices!!

Otgirl - so sorry this wasn't the one for you and hope that you can go again soon. I agree with Micca - is there something different they can offer you for next time?

Lilly - sorry for your BFN. Have you had your appointment with your new FS? I have been told twice now to give up (by 2 different FS's) but I just keep ignoring them and believe I have a few cycles left in me. You would think they would figure out a better time to have that chat with you than straight after confirming a BFN. I think a new FS is a great idea - a fresh look at everything.

Sunny - how did your op go? How are you recovering? Hopefully you can cycle again very soon.

Minibar - it must be so exciting to be getting towards single digits! You are an inspiration to us, love hearing your story.

Hoping4more - I have always been allowed to put 2 back in because of my age. How is the jabbing going?

Cillie - sorry for you BFN. Have you started to plan your next cycle yet?

    to anyone I have missed.

AFM - I had the scan, then they wanted me to have an MRI. I guess they were trying to confirm that there was no fibroids left, which they did confirm. I thought this was good news but when I rang my FS to chase him up after the results, he agreed that it was good news about the fibroids but that I still have adenomyosis and that is probably what is the problem. He asked me what our next step was, and I said I wanted at least one more cycle. I forgot to mention to him that the only cycle I have done since removing the fibroid was one where we didn't get to transfer, so I am prepared to do it again (and to be honest, again if we have to). So am waiting for AF and then have to ring the clinic and go in for a BT. He won't confirm that we can cycle this month until after the BT. As this will be my first cycle after taking DHEA, it will be interesting to see the difference in egg quality.

Take care, ladies. Have a good week.

    Good morning ladies

Otgirl Im so sorry about the BFN hand in there thinking of you X

Micca yay fantastic news and sounds like babbette is going to be one luckly spoilt little girl with all of those aunties how wonderful

AndyG hopefully good news from you sooon bet you cant wait for those little embies

Jen42 good luck for the new cycle and hopefully the DHEA will do its thing

Sunny how did everything go for you hopefully you will have some answers soon

Hoping4more I have had 4 full cycles and had two day 5 embryos put back on the last two, I think thats the max they can put back in Australia, I have been told that in women over 40 although it dose happen its unlikely to have twins or more.

Chillie how are you doing have you been back to discuss your last cycle and do you have plans for your next

soclose yay for new cycle where are you upto I will be crossing everything for you that this will be your turn heres to some great follicles for you

Sooz and Minibar how are those precious little bubs growing.

To all the other wonderful loadies on this thread my best wishes no matter where your IVF journey is at X

Well the clinic called and wanted me to come into discuss cycle so both DH and I went in and 1.5hrs later and intense questioning from DH my FS has suggested that we try the antagonist cycle with the Colorado method included. Apparently its more gentle and with all of the lining issues Ive had over the last few cycles he thinks this may be a better option for me to try and with the colorado both DH and I will be put onto antiboiotics and I will have all this other medication as well and its a short cycle. You dont produce as many eggs but some women at 40 have had better results. I asked for DHEA but he keeps saying I dont need it. DH wants to give this type of cycle a go and he seems excited about it as they are now trying something different. I dont have my appointment with new FS for another two weeks. Dont know what to do feel very confussed now.

Has anyone done the antagonist with colorado method I dont fully understand it so much information to take in from the FS. Any advice on what to do would be greatly appreciated or any little bit of information on this method.

Have a great day ladies love to all X

Hi Lilly - this is the only type of cycle I have had so I can't compare it with other types of cycles but it is certaining quick - starts on day 2 of AF and finishes at BT. Partner takes anti-biotics for 5 days from day 2. I had two injections per day at the beginning and ended up having 4 injections per day by day 6 until trigger and then after trigger injection I started prednisolone and anti-biotic for 5 days. 3 days after EPU I commence crinone and estradot patches. I am not sure how this compares with other types of cycles but my FS only does this type of cycle with "older women" and reports some success.

Lilly40 – Sorry that you had the BFN confirmed and those inappropriate comments from the FN, but congratulations on being proactive and making an appointment with another FS. I am on an antagonist protocol but not the Colorado method….I would be eager to know more about it. Good luck with the new FS appointment and get your DH to again intensely question the FS, including DHEA. I have been on DHEA for 2 nearly 3 months and after my recent op, the Perth FS (see below) and my own FS are keen for me to take it. Good luck with your appointment.

Otgirl – So sorry to hear about your BFN. Big hugs to you. Good luck to you also for your appointment with your FS…..hope you get some good advice and direction.

AndyGee – I would be so interested to hear about your donor story. It is something that I have been considering for a while now and I have just put my name down on the donor list at my clinic, but being on a list could take quite some time.

Micca – YAY…..everything is all good with bobette!! I am so happy for you……you can finally enjoy being pregnant. Congratulations and start to take pleasure in your pregnancy with your little girl.

Jen42 – I have been taking Royal Jelly and CoQ10 for just over a month now. I got my Royal Jelly from a vitamin place and it comes in 10ml vials in liquid format. It is called ‘Peking Royal Jelly – Herbal Vitamin Liquid Complex – Blue Label’. It tastes awful but it is over and done with pretty quickly.

Hi to everyone else and hope you are all doing well.

    AFM
Almost back to my normal self…up and around, albeit with a few more punctures than originally anticipated and a nicely coloured belly of blues, purples and yellows!!!

Good news, uterine cyst was not a cyst…..I had small ‘folds’ in my womb which were collecting old blood and the folds were partly covering the opening to my left tube. The folds have been cut and cleared out. Surgeon does not know why or how the folds were there, possibly congenital, but womb is now in a better condition to receive embryos.

Bad news, I have quite a bit of endometriosis which came as quite a shock, as I have never had any symptoms or indications of endometriosis. Surgeon cleared up what he could. He also said that my womb is a little ‘spongy’ in one section (attributed to age) and mentioned a word for it, but unfortunately I cant remember (damn anaesthetic!).

Surgeon/FS came over from Perth to work with my FS and I am extremely thankful for the work that they both did on me. I haven’t had to take any pain relief at all and I was moving around pretty freely the day after the op. I have barely had any bleeding, only slightly discoloured discharge (sorry TMI).

Both FS have said that I should be able to cycle pretty quickly and Perth FS has also suggested some things to add to my protocol. So I go back to my FS on Monday morning to get my stitches out and incidentally, that is when I ‘should’ get AF (both FS suggested that I go for scan at Day 21 with a view to start cycling). I will talk to FS to get more of an understanding of my op (again damn anaesthetic!) and the way forward for my next cycle.

Well DH has cancelled the second oppion appointment until we have give the new protocole a go. So I have the appointment with the FN on 27 Sept to go through all the instructions and purchase the meds for the new cycle with antagonist and Colorado. So just waiting at the moment.

    Hi ladies,

Gee, it's been a bit quiet in here lately. I hope you're all doing well and enjoying your weekend.

Had my US on Friday and it showed that I only have two follies on one side and one on the other. 14, 11 & 9mm. We are leaving it until Monday and doing another scan to see if they've grown at all before decided whether to cancel or not. I wasn't surprised. It was like I sort of knew that my FN was going to tell me this. I'll have a chat with my FS on Monday after the scan and see what he thinks too. My gut feeling sort of tells me that if I have two good follies, three if we're lucky, then I think we'll give it a go. I know my eggs might not be the best and I'm not sure what sort of fertility rate we'd have but we've got to give it a try. I had two natural pregnancies and my DH has 5 kids so it's not like we've had problems before. But we're alot older now.

FN said that if we cancel and try again next month, we'll probably get the same sort of numbers. I don't think I have enough left to start throwing any of them away. Maybe one of these might be the only one we need. Time will tell. What would you guys do?

    have a good Sunday everyone.

oh yeah, jabbing is going fine thanks to everyone who's asked. Not too big a deal now but then again, my last Gonal F jab is tomorrow night so it could be getting better knowing that the end is near. Although I don't like the idea of giving myself two trigger needles on Monday night. I have a friend who will be my backup plan if I chicken out at giving them to myself.

    Default Keep the faith

    Hi ladies

You may remember me from our previous forum discussion.

I also wanted to add to Micca's comment. Keep the faith...IVF is a hard road, but I believe if you keep at it you will get the miracle you are waiting for...even though you may need to try different treatment options. I also did the hard core drugs such as growth hormones, DHEA etc

I am now 33 weeks pregnant and also having a girl. Funny, all the ladies I know that have done IVF have had girls!

I didn't want to risk doing an amnio test, but instead I did an u/s at 15 weeks by the best u/s specialist in WA (he also does amnio test etc)...he checked all the aspects of my embryo that may detect down syndrome, very amazing. It appeared my little embryo back then was looking 100% fine, and he flat out said he wouldn't suggest an amnio...so I was so pleased...and at 15 weeks he was able to tell me I was having a girl...so amazing what they can see at just 15 weeks...some of the things he looked at that suggest downs was the brain, the thickness of the wall between the left and right side of the heart, the little finger bone and thigh bone (in downs they are shown to be smaller), other things I can't remember now. Anyway, when you get to this stage, here is another option for testing for downs ONLY.

Take care all, and I wish you all success!
