    hi everyone...

Chilile...wow your cycle with your sister has certainly come about so quickly. She is such a wonderful person to do this for you even with her aversion to needles.... Im so glad that everything is going well, I cant wait to hear her follie count and your lining thickness.....

Soclose...dont loose the faith...you can get preggers its just perserverence.... Lets hope that the end of the month its your turn... the odds are that you are due a BFP in the next few cycles...

Pippy...lets hope that this cycle goes well and that the ovary behaves itself... although you may only get 1 or 2 eggs from that side.... as the ovary recovers... lets hope that everything goes well...

sunny...grrrr that cyst is just a little witch... lets hope that it has all settled, the spotting could be due to the ocp as well... so dont loose all hope., But if it is there I would certainly push for a hysteroscopy and scrape, you can cycle almost immediately after and data shows that it increases the chances of a bfp...

my cold has finally settled it took long enough... and Im very good friends with the couch...lol...lol..

hoping/trying again... welcome to the thread...
you will find lots of support and advice and its a great place to vent your frustrations because really we are the only ones that get it...!!.
great that you are both cycling together, that can make a huge difference in the mind games...
remember all the success stories... 3s the charm for me...and I will deliver at 42...lol,..lol...

    lily...how are you going????

sooz........glad that everything is going so well... come on your 12 week scan...

    AFM
well Im just cruising along... 11weeks now... Luckily no further bleeding since that one off at 9 weeks...it was a subchorionic bleed. and stable.
I have been lucky with hardly any nausea, just the occassional episode, like today... no vomits, at the moment the tiredness is hitting me and I am needing a nana nap on my days off...lol.. I went to bed today for 2hrs... bliss....
I remain paranoid patty about everything and probably will for some time... I have decided to get a fetal doppler as they are pretty cheap on ebay and it will make me feel a little more sane... this will be you ladies..lol..lol...
So I have my nuchal scan on thursday more worry over the downs risk which will probably still be high,...Im sure I will end up doing CVS or Amnio... but my brain is in the right mindset for that.....
Im hoping that I will be able to relax after that and enjoy the pregnancy....planning to blab to the world probably at around 13 weeks...after all the genetic testing is over....
So thats my life to date... I little window into your futures..lol..lol..lol..

I hope everyone stays sane and we need some more BFPs on this board because its been 2 months since our last lot...
    xxxxxxxxxx

Sunny15, I think it was in the right ovary and looked like one of the follicles??? Cycle was going to be canned but we asked to do a FET so they gave me a trigger shot. That afternoon, I got some wet sticky clear stuff leak out, so I'm guessing it was the cyst bursting? Not sure. Funny how they tell you as much as you need to know

    Hello Ladies

Well its been a couple of weeks from hell. My best friend was put into hospital with a massive growth on her ovary and when they went into investigate they ended up giving her a full hysterectomy she is 39 years old!

So apologies for not checking in and if Im not upto speed on where everyone is at.

Goldy Im so sorry to hear your news I hope you are ok and in the process of working out where to from here, IVF is such a strain on every aspect of our lives. Take care

Micca everything seems to be going so well for you, when are your next tests and scans due I bet you are busting to get them out of the way so you can tell the world your news how fantastic

Soclose how are you where are you upto are you in the process of cycling again?

Chilie how are things going with your sister have you had an egg collection yet? Hope everything is growing nicely for you.

Sooz when is your 12 week scan hope the bub is behaving

Hoping/trying again welcome to the thread

Pippy how is the cyst is this all cleared up now

Sunny whats happened did you end up getting a hysteroscopy done?

To anyone I have missed Im so sorry Im struggling to keep up at the moment.

Well my friend has keep my mind well and truly off myself so the weeks have flown by. Im injecting twice a day 225 puregon in the morning and 225 in the evening and still on the syneral. Hopefully this change in protocol leads to better quality of eggs this time. We are having the ICIS with the added calcium so hopefully we get a nice strong blast to transfer fingers crossed. Been keeping up the weekly acupuncture and booked in for my scan and blood test next Monday so looks like a collection around next Thursday (hopefully some to collect!)

Anyway ladies Im sneaking on at work so better get back to it. Would love to here where everyone is upto and how you all are as I have often thought of everyone on this thread. Love to all no matter where you are upto X

Hi Lily40. I'm sorry to hear about your friend. It is good that you are able to offer her some support. It is good that you are cycling and trying something different. I hope it has a good result. I don't know very much about the different protocals, but that one sounds like it would be suitable for a pincushion, injecting twice a day.
AFM - My sister and I are off for a dual scan session tomorrow morning very early. Have to leave here before 6am... have gotten so used to being in bed at that time now DD sleeps late. We have a follie count and lining check (turns out Progynova is for lining and to stave off AF and does zip to prevent ovulation... I must have misunderstood that ). Probably / hopefully will be at EPU next Wed. So crossing fingers and feeling nervous re:scan at the moment. Sister says she is feeling quite bloated and has had pings of pain around ovary region. I hope not too many follies for her. Overstim would be a very sad/bad result.

Good luck for your scan too. I hope for a good result to your new approach.

Micca – You have a right to be ‘paranoid patty’…you have very precious cargo on board…..I think we would all be the same. How did you go with the nuchal scan….please give us a positive report (in need of some positive news)!! Thanks for giving us a “little window into our futures”….I cant wait and I hope that I am soon to follow you.

Tryingagain – Thanks for sharing with me…..I was wondering if we had the same kind of cyst. How is your cycle going?

Lilly40 – Your changed protocol sounds like it is agreeing with you…..you sound really positive…..hopefully this protocol will give you lots and lots of good quality eggs next week……we need another BFP…..keeping my fingers crossed for you. I am so sorry for your friend. That is a really awful awful situation for your friend to bear. I don’t know what else to say….I feel no words will be of comfort. I just hope she finds a way to deal with it and if there was any a time to be able to transport your friend or fast forward her to such a time, you would do it to save the heartache and pain for her.

Cillile – good luck for your dual scan tomorrow.

    AFM
DISAPPOINTED……cyst has not gone and has not even decreased in size. Im booked in for a hysteroscopy and laparoscopy on 6 Sept…..not sure how many abdominal incisions is considered ‘normal’ for a laparoscopy, but Im apparently having 4…..a girl at my work had 2…..so I am a little worried about healing time. FS will give me a ‘scrape’ out at the same time. Micca – you were right….my spotting (particularly bad today) was due to ocp….stopping ocp today. If it wasnt bad enough listening to FS news.....the spotting really had to ram it home today!!! Sorry ladies….feeling very doom and gloom at the moment ….my dream just doesn’t seem to be getting any closer…..feeling worse, as while I am typing this the new born baby next door is crying! Here's hoping for sunnier days to come.

Sunny... you are allowed to feel all doom and gloom... share all your feelings with us, thats what we are here for...
Did you see the doco on SBS about older mothers having babies post menopausal ?? it was very interesting and really heartwarming that these women could get pregnant via IVF... They had a lady whom gave birth at 62, 67 and 52 from all around the world. So dont despair there is help for you.... On one of the other threads I chat on we have a 48yr old lady whom is cycling with donor eggs...
cheer up...if you want a baby enough to emotionally and physically survive IVF and persevere with your dream you will get there... its like a marathon lots of training then one day you make the finish line....

Lilly...so sorry to hear about your girlfriend....what a traumatic experience for her... I hope she comes through it all ok....
I hope that your uss will be good and show you have lots of ripe follies for your EPU next week...

Chillile... wow it is slow close... your sister is just fabulous... I hope that she has lots of great eggs for you and that there are some left over for frosties for you,
We all got those pains in the last few days... at least with her not doing ET they will settle very very quickly afterwards....

    AFM
so I drove 120km to the hospital for the scan, had to park miles away and power walk to the fetal medicine as I was a bit late. I then get there (only 5mins late yay) with my bursting full bladder to have to wait for an hour...sigh... I had to let a little pressure off at one point...lol.
So finally I got to see BoB again... it was lying beautifully in the correct position.. asleep I think... cause when the sonographer pushed a little bit it jumped...lol...lol... I must say having an early nuchal scan seems a little easier as the baby is a week off the mexican jumping bean phase....
So it was cute waved its hands around..... heart and umbiclical circulation all good, head the right size, and it was growing well.. measuring a few days ahead in growth, and the subchorionic haematoma had resolved and all dissappeared.

    My risks
    nuchal fold...1.2mm...very good
nasal bone.. strong and good length..good....
PAPP-A 0.49 MoM, Bhcg 1.64 MoM (normal average is 1.0 MoM)

    trisomy 12 and 18 1:1000 good
downs risk 1:73... not much off my age risk (41yr = 1:60, I expected it)

The fetal medicine specialist ( he was the head of the unit) calculated it right after my scan and went through it all. He was so lovely and said that he thought that this baby did not have downs due to the great nuchal and nasal bone, you have got to love experence in this specialty.....
The downs risk is high because of the PAPP-A being low.... he also thought that my PAPP-A was low because of IVF and high hormone levels...and said that new research is looking into this...so it was all reassuring.
He offered me some options to be sure for my head....CVS, amnio, but pushed the amnio for the full profile and 100% accuracy with what he felt was a chromosomally healthy baby....
So I am going to have an amniocentesis on sep 2nd (14w6d) and get the final definative diagnosis... they will give me the result the next day...woohoo....
So this is about where I thought i would be.... so its good to have the reassurance....now Ive just got to make it through the next 3ww...lol... oh well at least the upside is that I will know the sex of the baby... and its full genetic profile..and another look at BoB.... what more can I ask for being an old reproductive geriatric...lol..lol...

I also asked about the low PAPP-A and he said that it can be linked with placental insufficency but felt mine was not a low enough level, but they will monitor with uss for BoBs growth... cant be happier than that....

So Im at home on the couch.. relaxing ...maybe some chocolate later...lol...

Levels have been rising a lot slower in this cycle, compared to our first. I was on 225ml of Gonal-F in March, my E2 was 12600 on CD8, 14000 (9 follicles on scan), 18700, 25000 on trigger! (11 follicles retrieved, 8 fertilised, 5 divided, 2 frozen, 1 transferred.)

So when I was instructed to start Gonal-F at 300ml this time, I went "Que???!!!" and asked for a please confirm, and then told to start on 112.5ml instead. E2 2800 (day 7), 3500, 4900.

Had ultrasound today, left ovary has about 4-5, ranging from 20-10mm and right ovary had a big one 23mm and a smaller one. So, not many follies ....

Been reading a very technical article about monitoring and E2 levels - this takes me back to highschool chemistry days:
    ...............
The dose of gonadotropin should not be changed as long as serial E2 levels rise between 50 and 100% every other day (32). Dirnfeld et al. (6), showed that very slow or very rapid estrogen growth rates (EGRs), calculated from the 4 days preceding oocyte aspiration in CC/hMG stimulated cycles, were associated with a reduced pregnancy rate. EGRs of 0.31 to 0.41 were associated with optimal pregnancy rates. EGR is calculated by the formula:
    EGR = e-B -1
where B is the slope of the least square line corresponding to the semilogarithmic plot of E2 values versus time and e = 2.718.

Lol........ its interesting but I'll need to reread it a few more times to understand it!!

    Default good news appointment

Sunny - sorry to hear of your disappointment with the cyst. The scopies sound a bit of an ordeal. But best of luck with them and I hope that all heals quickly and a great cycle follows quickly.

Micca - great results with the nuchal. Lovely to hear that BoB was showing his best behaviour and the haematoma has gone.

tg40 - I'm only just learning about E2 numbers. Your maths/science bit seems awful complicated, but there do seem to be a lot of individual factors/ possible predictors. The 25K E2 seems very very high. Perhaps the lastest lot are the better figures. On another board someone commented that their FS said lower range was best. My understanding is that each follie should be producing a certain amount when they reach their best so number of follies X best amount = ideal E2. Too much E2 makes you sick? or predicts overstim?

Afm - My sister and I did our scans this morning. 12 follies and 10 mm lining with the follies a good size for slightly early EPU on Mon. Hopefully transfer on Wed (FS seems to believe best place for embies is their natural home rather than medium in a dish. I have finally worked out what FS was saying re: Progynova. Progynova helps build up lining and keep it there. They then use Progesterone pesseries to mimic the effect of ovulation (which has actually already occurred, but effects were staved off by the Progynova) on the uterine lining. My sister has been a real champ and i'm very relieved that overstim problems are unlikely.
We are now hoping for a good pick up and fertilisation and thinking about how many of her 28 year old eggs to transfer, 1 or 2.

Thanks ladies……a little bit of time has passed and I am starting to return to my positive self.

Micca – Thanks for your words of wisdom. Great to see that everything is well on track for you and BoB. I missed the SBS program that you were talking about, which is a real shame. I have had a look on the SBS website to see if I could view it online, however, I could not find the program. If you remember anything else about the program (eg date, time or name of program), just drop me a line so I can try tracking it down. Im starting to gather information on donor eggs, as I am starting think along the lines of doing a combination of my own eggs and donor eggs, whilst I still can.

Cillile – Good luck to you and your sister for EPU tomorrow…..keep us informed if transfer will definitely be Wednesday. How is your sister……excited? What did you decide on how many embies to put back?

Tryingagain – OMG ….I would have to read it many many times and I think I would still need some coaching through it!!! lol. Remember it is the quality of eggs over quantity…..it only needs one good one.

    AFM
Well its been a very interesting couple of days. The day after my news from the FS regarding my laparoscopy and hysteroscopy, my work nemesis announced she was pregnant….it was only two weeks ago that she announced that she was ovulating, so we would all know what her and her partner would be doing later that night…..its going to be a very very long 9 months!!!!

I am getting back on my positive track….op cant happen quick enough and FS says that I should be able to cycle pretty quickly. Starting to gather info on donor eggs….I also need to follow down the footsteps of PennyPC….I need to know that once ovulation is all over for me, that I too have left no stone unturned.

    to everyone else.

    Micca,

Great to see you travelling along nicely.....all the best with amnio...my sister had one done for the same reason being probably to do with IVF...she said it was a breeze....

    Sunny,

I had my lap about a month ago...4 incisions....couldn't remove all the cyst as it was huge..dwarfed my already enlarged uteris and pushed my left ovary into no mans land...but recovery was fine...all the best.

    Cillie,

all the best today for your sister and yourself..

    Lily,

Goodluck with your scan.......hope there is loads of lovley juicy follies

    Soclose...thinking of you....hold in there....x

    Sooz,

All the best with the 12 week scan......exciting..

    AFM,

Back cycling again....have first scan(if she can see anything) on Wednesday.....fingers crossed. I find the scans the most stressful part of this...

    Take care girls..

    xx
