Hi Bracar congrats on your progression :-) do you have to attend 2 different education sessions for adoption and permanent care?
Did you have your pre assessment interview? Or is that this Tuesday?

I am going to read though the pages but wanted to post first :-) so I have sent off a request to DHS for an information session! Is that all that needs to be done at this stage? Do any of u have some successful stories?

Although we are not in Vic, we found it useful to join our state's adoptive families association - they run events for people considering fostering and/or adoption as well as for families awaiting allocation and those who have their children home. (Our 2 adopted children are now older, but in the early years other members of our association were invaluable resources.)

It is a good idea to be thinking about whether you are hoping for an infant adoption, older child or sibling group. You might also want to start researching what/if any special needs you could handle. If you are in a regional area that can include checking out what medical, counselling facilities are available locally.

Hi Muzzy, welcome to the journey. This process if nothing else, teaches you patience. Now you have sent the email, someone from your local agency will contact you and discuss where you are at and help arrange the infor sessions. If you wanted to speak to someone sooner, you could try and contact your local adoption and permanent care agency to ask when the next info sessions are. I know you are probably keen to get started. We had to wait 2 months for a spot in a perm care info session and 6 months for a spot in an adoption info session.
I wish you all the best.

Hi muzzy congrats on making it to the waiting list!! I received an invite 3 months after going on the waiting list but had to decline but then only had to wait a month to receive another one in which we are attending this coming Monday! Yay!
All the best with the process.

Thanks teenytot!! Just wondering, I did a couple of rounds of clomid last few months and I know we need to wait 6months before we can go ahead with an application, is that including the info session? How do you get an invite to the info session is it phone email, mail?
