    Hi everyone
    WE SURVIVED!! Lol
1st couples interview done amd dusted
We have 2 social workers and found the interview nice
Im a nervous talker and tried really hard to stay on topic.
They asked things like describe ur husbands personality and attributes
Why did you go for adoption and permanent care
It was all over and done so quickly the 2 hrs flew
It felt a bit like a therepy session to be honest and afterwards i stressed to hubby did i sound crazy lol
    He assures me i didnt
Hubby has an individual interview next week and mine is the week after
Our social worker is away for 2 weeks after that and then we will have 2 more
Couples interviews 1 with the kids included at the end.
I cleaned like a mad man for weeks and was a bit dissapointed that
They didnt even look at the house but apparently they will do a safetly check
    Next time
Thank u for all the love it means so much

    Default Adoption choice

Hi everyone, hope you’re all doing well in your journeys! Was wondering how you all came to the decision to do domestic adoption compared to intercountry adoption. We had our meeting at the Intercountry Adoption Victoria office which was great and very informative. We then have our permanent care info session in July. We then will have to choose 1 avenue to follow through with after that. How did everyone here decided to go with domestic adoption? Feeling like this will be a tough choice later on!

There certainly was a lot to consider in making the decision, I was very interested in inter country
When we were deciding (3-4 years ago) there wasn’t a lot of unfilled quotas for Aus for inter country as there seems to be now.
We were concerned that once our application was complete & accepted that we wouldn’t meet all the criteria (ageing out) and that the process would be filled with more red tape & delays than we could handle, but really in the end, when it came down to it, it was largely a ‘gut’ decision that we chose local adoption & permanent care, & definitely the right decision for us!

We have our first interview today and i’m terrified i’ll sound like a crazy person. I’m terrible at interrogation. Job interviews are the worst. I hate being judged. It’s taken us 3 years to get here and I don’t want to stuff it up😬

Good luck for today Hydz! What you’re feeling is completely natural..
think of it as a get to know you meeting, because that’s exactly what it is. Your interview isn’t for judgement, but to get to know you as much as they can. And although there are a huge amount of questions and subjects they’ll want to cover, it’s nothing like an interrogation. More like catching up over coffee with a long lost great aunt or uncle who wants to know all about what’s been going on in your life.
You can not stuff this up, because no-one is as good as being you, as you!
And your worker that you’re meeting with today is on your side, will be your very best advocate, your new best friend, for the rest of this journey.
Enjoy this next big step xx

This is my first time posting here. I read this tread in it's entirety, some of you have such amazing stories. I had always expected one day I'd like to adopt and if I wasn't already convinced your stories would have done the job. I hope this thread keeps going.

I have PCOS, the state of my ovaries and hormones were so bad, I was told I would never get pregnant without medical intervention, after I miscarried twins and 6 years of TTC with my ex partner the relationship broke down and we split.

Just months after, I got a naturally conceived miracle baby with my wonderful new partner and best friend. I was on the pill, not even trying to get pregnant, but sometimes these things just happen. When I did the pregnancy test and it was positive, I went into shock I couldn't believe it. After the birth of our daughter I was not allowed to try to conceive for a minimum of 18 months as I had to have a C section. We discussed adoption at the time and decided that is what we would prefer when the time came, neither of us wanted to put ourselves through the heart ache of years of TTC and IVF treatments. So here we are looking to adopt another much wanted family member.

I do have a couple of questions....I spoke to a lady on the phone recently when I registered to attend an information session and she couldn't tell me if my partner and I would or wouldn't have enough evidence to prove our de facto relationship. Is there anyone still active on here who was in a de facto relationship that would be able to give me advice on what we might need to do.

We do have a child together and have been living together for 4 years. I realise they are going to want a paper trail but what kind of paper trail will they ask for?
