I guess it means money can buy you love and "those" kinda of happy things.

Sure as hell could buy me a LOT of stuff though that would make me happy!

I would be very happy to afford a car. Very happy to afford to buy a house. Very happy if I could afford new clothes.

I agree with that statement, but I think it's more aimed at people with alot of money, not people who are struggling just to pay bills, cause hell that would make me happier too.
But money can't buy relationships, children, love, health, it can buy alot of useless materialistic things. Its like when you go shopping, it gives you a high, but that high quickly goes away. You have to feel good about yourself and other things in your life and it has nothing to do with money.
For me, happiness is about a good balance of being debt free, happy in my job with steady income, happy healthy children and marriage, able to travel, have experiences, eat out and just be comfortable. It's not necessarily to be a millionaire or just about money. Look at people with alot of money, they're not always happy if they don't have a good balance.

No prob Noms I can't even remember what the original title was oops, lol dealing with a cranky bum baby...

Good points everyone, I guess those sort of lines are aimed at rich people who don't have loved ones in their lives??? Who think money is more important, like the Scrooge character.

This may make me sound shallow but I don't care more money would make me happy, as long as I had my hubby and kids with me.

My generalisations about wealthy people are aimed at the REALLY, extremely, over-wealthy peoply.
Some would call DF and I 'wealthy' so I KNOW that not ALL wealthy people don't value their property and what not, but my generalisations were about those who can afford a new car every week.

I think money can buy happiness for sure. Being stress free financially and knowing the bills will be paid etc makes people happy.

I think the whole "money cant buy happiness" idea means that it cant fix all your problems. Like some rich people who are in an unhappy marriage...obviously money didnt make them happier in their relationship.

I think money cant BUY you happiness, but it can make you happy.

    Certainly makes me happy

But, I think, maybe the right word would be happier - money makes me happier.

I'm happy. I'm flipping tired. But I'm happy.

If I was miserable I think I would still be miserable, just in better clothes, if we had lots of money.

ETA (actually, take that back, BUYING things makes me happy Though, I'm thrilled I bought something for myself for the first time in ages, I got comfy-around-the-house trackies that make my bum look nice - cos thats important for $7!!!! so.... things.... things make me happy.... not really money... but what money buys me can make me happy)

There are people who love money more than others. They think the more money they have, they will be happy. There are loads of people who are miserable who can have whatever they want, yet they are still unhappy. Money doesn't make you healthier, happier, more loved, more generous or anything else.
