Default Student midwife in Perth seeking mums-to-be who want some extra support!

    Hello lovely ladies,

My name is Laura and I am a first year, direct entry midwifery student at Curtin Uni. I'm currently on my first clinical placement, and absolutely loving it! As part of my course I am required to support min. 30 women in a Follow Through experience. So 10 ladies per year. This allows me to experience continuity of care with an individual woman through pregnancy, labour and birth, and the postnatal period, and contribute to me being a better midwife! I would be expected to attend pregnancy appointments (i dont have to attend every single appointment, as you may wish to have some time without me present!), education classes, and the labour and birth. I would also visit you up to 4-6 weeks after bub is born
During this time we would be able to establish a good relationship, and I would be there to support you and your partner through the labour and birth (if you want me there of course!). I will always be under the supervision of a qualified midwife or doctor, and at this point of my course I really just observe. But having a familiar face through this journey, I think, can be quite comforting

You are able to join the program if you are less than 35 weeks pregnant. But obviously the earlier on in your pregnancy you join, the more time we have to establish our relationship. If you do change your mind, you can withdraw at any time.

I would love to share your childbearing experiences with you, so please do contact me if you are interested and we can have a chat

All the best for your pregnancies, and hope to hear from you soon,
    Laura
