Default Returning to work - cover letter

Not sure if this is the best place to put this but:

What is the best way to address the fact you've been off work due to having a baby when applying for a new role? So as not to come across as a lazy bludger who has spent 6 months sitting on their butt watching Foxtel

Personally I wouldn't throw out the fact that you have a new baby - simple fact is alot of employers won't look at you as they worry about how flexible your hours can be - how much time you will take off work with bubba sick - how you will manage at the job after a sleepless night.

I would only address your laziness if its bought up in the interview.

Yes but such a big gap in the CV would raise questions and your application may get binned before you have even got an interview!
