Default Swine Flu vax for pregnancy

I went and saw my doctor today and she recommends that after my first trimester is over that I get the swine flu vaccine as she believes that there will be more cases this winter. She also explained how many very sick pregnant women she had last winter that were tested positive to swine flu.

If you are pregnant did or will you have the swine flu vaccine?

    What are your thoughts?

Im 27 weeks pregnant, have not and will not get the vaccination. Im not working, so its not like im in an industry where ill be exposed to sick ppl all the time. I dont normally get the flu shot, so dont see the point in putting chemicals in my body when PG. Neither my GP, midwife and OB have even recommended the shot, not that it would change my mind. Bub is due on the 1st of May, so i wont be going through winter PG either.

I should have got it before I was pregnant but I didn't know and hadn't been to see my Dr pre pregnancy.

I am due in Sept and my GP is concerned that I will go through winter pregnant and because my three other children are at school and preschool they could bring it home.

I am concerned as I do remember the pregnant women from last winter who were seriously ill or died from swine flu.

    I wouldn't be getting it.

There is just no way, and certainly not if I was pregnant.

There is absolutely no studies done on the effects on the fetus.
Like missie-mack said the ingredient Thiomersal , which is a preservative ,is a big worry.

It is classified as a pregnancy C drug - as in some harm is done to the fetus when this drug is used.
But no studies have been done, so how they can know what harm is beyond me.

If you are healthy , have a balanced diet with lots of fruit and veg .. get plenty of vit D .

You should have nothing to worry about.

Personally IMO i think they are just trying to palm them off now and try and recoup some of the millions of dollars they spent on it.

Here is a news article i was reading today
