Seriously though, it is very possible the kids don't like the stuff. I know I bugged my parents for years to take us to Maccas, and then thought it was absolute poo!
We were in between houses recently and staying in a hotel with 3 kids under 4 and no internet. I visited a few Maccas over that 8 days for the indoor airconditioned playground, if I had a laptop I would have been hooking into the Wi Fi too. Aaand I had a latte. My kids don't like maccas, but they did have a (carrotless) soft serve cone though.

Maybe they know no differently.
DD is 4 and doesn't really take too much notice of other people when we're out and about... she wouldn't know if all the other kids are eating maccas or an apple.
Perhaps to them, it's the same as being taken to The Coffee Club or something with their Mum - only this place is more interesting because it's got a playground.
If she wanted to do Maccas healthily though - you can buy water/juice and apple slices...

Thats right 1 single carrot lol
I work in food so I should have explained a "horse carrot"
A horse carrot is an over grown carrot that you can buy in massive 20kg bags that you feed to horses, they really are massive.
I was in stitches though the whole time I was there and laughed most of the way home.
I feel bad for the kids though,

I really wouldn't feel badly for them. As someone else mentioned, they are probably just there for the playground.
I've only just started taking my kids (6 and 3) to McDonald's because sometimes their dad works nights, I'm frazzled and I want to run them ragged for half an hour, so we go to McDonald's. They don't even know what McDonald's is. They call it the 'special place' (and I don't discourage them because then they never use the word McDonald's and mummy doesn't get judged! ). They're not very interested in the food, more in the idea of the toy that comes with the food and the playground. They'd probably be equally as impressed with a carrot and the playground if they didn't know the toy existed. I don't eat there because I can't stand it, so maybe they don't even see it as a restaurant as such -- just a place to play and get a snack.

Is it at all posibble that this is a single mum who can't afford maccas and the internet. Lord knows we don't buy maccas and I am struggling to keep the internet on in our house.
Maybe she needed the internet for something important that day. Maccas not only has free internet but a playground to keep the kids amused while she does some stuff.
Not everyone can afford to feed there kids junk food while out and about.
Oh but I would have at least taken 2 carrots
