Default Dr for c-section at Mater Hospital Crows Nest

    Hi everyone,

I just found out this morning that I'm pregnant and we are expecting our first baby. I really really want to have an elective c-section and after making a few calls to obstetricians this morning asking some questions, I can't decide on a doctor. Please help as I need to book a room at the Mater Crows Nest asap.

I'm after a doctor that has done plenty of c-sections and doesn't leave much of a scar.

    This is who I'm considering:

    Dr. Stephen Lyons
    Dr. Steven Tan
    Dr. Adrian Kwok
    Dr. Keith Hartman
    Dr. Jim Ferry

    Thank you. Cheers

    Default C Section and scars

    First of all congratulations

I recently gave birth to two healthy identical boys at the Mater with Dr Stewart Boyce via elective C-section at the end of December 2009.

My OB isn't on your list, but in terms of scars let me say that you can't even see mine.

He consults out of Royal North Shore Private but operates at RNSP and the Mater

Phone: (02) 9438 4077 (Pauline is great who is his receptionist)

What was great about Dr Boyce also was that he was a "no gap" with my private health insurance.

    Best of luck with everything.

    Cheers
    Ada

    Congrats on the new babies!

That's good to hear. That's exactly what I'm looking for someone who can do a great job with the c-section and the least visible scar possible.

Will give his office a call tomorrow.

    Thank you for the info.

Hello, I know this post is almost 3 years old, but did you end up having a C section with Dr Boyce? I'm keen to hear your feedback. I am currently managing my pregnancy with him (I have paid the full fee already) and I have a few concerns. All my current concerns are around the fact that he does not take notes during the consultations and seems to have forgotten all discussions we have had previously. Every time I go there, it seems that I'm meeting him for the first time. I'm not too concerned about the management of the pregnancy because it all seems to be straightforward at the moment (no complications) but I am having a mini meltdown about the delivery, so I'm keen to have some feedback re delivery stories with him that are recent. I have googled him and all positive feedback seems to go back to 2005.
