Default fresh bleeding 6 weeks post partum, please help

I gave birth six weeks ago, and afterwards i was a little surprised because i expected there'd be lots of heavy bleeding, but it wasn't like that at all. It was just like a normal period, but that could have been because maternity pads are extra big, i dont know.

So after about a week or two it turned brownish and there wasnt too much at all, i was expecting it to stop any day.
But it stayed like that for the last 5 and half week which i thought was normal so havnt been worried...
But then i had a few days of not having any blood, just like, a pale-ish discharge (sorry!) but then yesterday and today i have had a lot of fresh red blood and needed to wear a pad again...
i am having a check up next week but if anyone knows that this could be from please tell!
Also, how long is normal to have lochia?
    Thanks so much xo

My MCHN told me that it was common for it to stop for a few days then start up again. It didn't happen to me though.

What did happen though if I rememeber correctly was that I got my first AF 6 weeks after giving birth & it was back to normal from then onwards.

choccy the exact same thing happened to me - bled (very lightly) for 5 and a half weeks, about 4 days break then period.

    I was fully breastfeeding.

Got pregnant a few months later (still breastfeeding)

I'm now tandem feeding and *again* got my period 6 and a half weeks after the birth!

My PP bleed did that some times. I'm pretty sure it's normal for it teeter off then come back. Particularly if you're breastfeeding as your uterus could be contracting and expalling more blood that's still in there each time you feed.
Congrats on your new bubba too

I forgot to mention-i had stopped bleeding for two days and then went for a long walk. Well, it wasn't long, about 1km but afterwards i was tired and felt weak, like my chest would fall into my belly.
Then the next day is when the bright red bleeding started again, and i have had mild period pain.
Im quite concerned as i have read on the net that this could be post partum hemoraging, how would i know if this is serious untill my check up
(my check up is the end of next week, im six weeks postpartum athhe moment)
