    I prefer Maya if it's pronounced May-a, but not My-a. Ella is pretty too.

    both of these are on my future baby names list, but Maya is my all time favourite name

    an alternative pronounciation to Maya is Mia, and if you're after the same pronounciation with a different spelling, you could use Maia.

    I love the name Maya but also wanted to say I know about half a dozen Ella's so yes it is very common at the moment.

    DS was going to be Ella up until the last month when i found every 2nd birth notice was Ella so we decided on Stella instead anyway turned out to be a boy but others that might take your fancy that wont be duplicated over and over in the classroom

    They're both pretty and yes, Ella is reasonably common but that's because it's gorgeous! I voted for Ella.

    I like BOTH - but I must point out that Ella means 'she' in Spanish. Like Ella es bonita - she's pretty. So it's kind of a non-name for me if your little girl ends up a multi-lingual traveller.

    But you are the one's that must love it!!
