Mind if i join the chat ...Nomsie gave me a little push in this direction to find you all!!!

Let just start by a little about me ish..

Expecting Identical twins on August 16 2010, so 19wks tomorrow first pregnancy we did IVF (hence how i know they were identical and they share the same placenta)

I have to have scans every two weeks to monitor everything cause they are worried cause being IVF and then sharing the same placenta etc

No weight gain really .450 doesnt really count from being pregnant i delvoped a thyroid disease but specialist not worried nor is the OB ..twin (bugger i cant remember which is which now) but the one in the middle of the placenta and the other twin is a bit small from the last scan but OB again not worried

OB also said that i would have to deliver at 35weeks via c-sec and didnt really have a choice on that one wasnt really open for discussion but i'm ok with that and kinda expected anyway

Start to show a little in the front i had extra weight from IVF so its all blending in at the moment just getting achey pains down low near the vjay jay (Sorry if TMI)

Look forward to getting to know you all and getting extra advice from you all

    Emma

if there both head down and doing fine - why cant you have then naturally?

Sorry to be a bit nosey - just curious thats all!

    Hope all is well

Thats fine to ask ...please dont hestitate cause they are sharing the same placenta and the risk with TTTS that may or may not happen and they also said at RWH that 99% of twins they prefer to deliver via c-sec they feel its safer of course i'd say if i had a trouble free pregnancy i'd would have been given a choice ...personally i'm happy to do a c-sec the thought of pushing two out scares the heck out of me and going through IVF nothing fazes me anymore

They wont tell me the sex, well at my last two scans they wouldnt i am hoping that when i have my scan on thursday which will be the morph one they will tell me i think they might just being safe on this in case they get it wrong and we buy one colour and it turns out to be the other LOL

Emma - congrats on our pregnancy and twinnies!!!! All the stretching, pulling, aching is generally pretty normal. My twins were my third pregnancy, but I still noticed the stretching/achey feeling alot more than me previous pregnancies. My bubbas were born at 35weeks (tried to make an entrance at 32, but kept them in for a bit longer!) and did really well, they were small, but establishing b/f only took a week to get down pat (much easier for me as I'd already b/f single bubbas!)

twins2be - when twins share the same placenta there is more risk involved with the birth, hence why OB's often want a more controlled environment of a c-section. They can steal blood from each other during the pregnancy leaving one much smaller too. ( I think - those with ID's please correct me, I only looked into ID's a little bit as mine are fraternal with fused placentas). Especially a first birth too, as the body may or may not cope well with it.

Eli is sick ATM -poor boy. He seems to puke whenever food is offered to him, so he's not really interested in eating at all. Hasn't really taken solids since wednesday morning, but is keeping all b/f down so that is good. Spoke to a nurse this morning, and so long as he is still having wet nappies and taking b/f or water it's OK to stay at home. He had a temp yesty, but only 38.8 and it's gone today. I hope he gets better fast as we go to Fiji in 11days!!!

gtg both are sooky ATM.....and I want to finish my cuppa soup!!!

ahh ok im with you now - thats fair enough - it all seems to get so confusing with all of the different ways with frats and ID's - seems all a bit much!

there was a lady i met in the super market the other day with twins and i started talking to her about her pram - she has a set of ID boys and a set of boy/ girl Frats! that confused the heck out of me! she had her ID's then 6 weeks later conceived her frats!

Thats no good about poor Eli - i hope he gets better very soon - and in time for your trip!

Charlis_Mum - Thats good you very able to keep them in longer i might need some tips later down the track if these two try to make a early apperance my two are already a little behind but i hope they just catch up now i'm in the 2nd trim

Sorry your little one is not well

Twin2be - Imagine that two sets so close together that would be a handful hope she had a big house!! And getting prams is a nightmare if you ask me i have to find one that will fit on a bus and in the back of a small car and not be the price of a small village in a far away country and be suitable from birth until about 2 or 3 (i dont want something they can only use for a short period esp if you pay $800 for one)

Emma - i was in target and bought the valco double delight stroller its suitable for newborn til 18 kgs both sides and it was only $300 it folds up so tiny (fits in the back of my mazda 323 only taking up a 3rd or the space) and it is fairly light so ill be able to manage on my own without DP around, alot of them i noticed all broke down into little bits and pieces but the one i bought from target seems great i put my 4 year old step son in it with another little girl his age (they both weigh 16kgs) and pushed them around the shopping centre in it - it was so easy, i could still manage to push it with one hand and it fits through door ways and all of the shopping isles i walked down - but i guess thats just to suit my needs - you may want something bigger and better - but good luck! your going to need it! lol

    Emma - congrats & welcome.

My girls are ID, we also had the TTTS thing running through our heads constantly.

Tan - Eli sounds like James did the other weeks. Turned out to be a 10 day virus, no one else got it.
