Default Neg HPT, but positive blood test - is it possible?

Just wondering if anyone has had negative hpt results, but gone on to have a positive blood test result a couple of days later?
I am 14 dpo today (had an artificial insemination done on Wed 11th), and did a First Response test today after feeling quite positive about being pregnant, but it has come back negative. I have my blood test on Friday morning and am wondering if it's still possible to get a positive blood test result after a negative First Response test today.
Has this happened to anyone (not necessarily with First Response, but I know they're very reliable).
    Thanks
