Default When do you think babies can understand?

I was just wondering what age everyone believed babies can understand speech. I am totally amazed at how well a little 14 month old baby can understand me and follow instructions!

Oh early on.. Ella already understands somethings I say... like "bottle" & "night, night"!! She's 7 months old!!

Children are like sponges learning from day dot!! They are smarter than we give them credit for!!

Elijah is 11mths today Hes understood the word no from 6/7mths and now understands yucky, not for your mouth; danger; good listening, etc. I think they start learning from day 1 about tone of voice then get a real understanding by 6mths of basic words. It really depends on the parenting i guess.
