It's an odd one, but The Gambler by Kenny Rogers is the song that always gets me . It was played at the funeral for my childhood neighbour who died from lung cancer. He was like family to us and one of the most amazing men I've ever met!
They used to play the song at work and for ages I had to go do something that would block the sound out so I couldn't hear it! Now I tend to smile when I hear the song and remember the good times with him!

I think of my best friend Rachael who was killed in a car accident at 37wks pregnant on 2nd of June 2009. I dont know the song name but it was the song those people danced to up the aisle at their wedding in USA (around june) and the song Love in this Club, by Chris brown (i think?) Which was her favourite song at the time of her death.

    RIP sweet angels.

for my ex who was hit by a car at 23

"dance with you" by Live. it was "our" song

    sittin' on the beach
    the island king of love
    deep in fijian seas
    deep in some blissful dream
    where the goddess finally sleeps
in the lap of her lover
    subdued in all her rage
and I am aglow with the taste
    of the demons driven out
    and happily replaced
with the presence of real love
    the only one who saves

    I wanna dance with you
I see a world where people live and die with grace
the karmic ocean dried up and leave no trace
    I wanna dance with you
I see a sky full of the stars that change our minds
and lead us back to a world we would not face

    the stillness in your eyes
    convinces me that I
    I don't know a thing
and I been around the world and I've
    tasted all the wines
    a half a billion times
    came sickened to your shores
you show me what this life is for

    I wanna dance with you
I see a world where people live and die with grace
the karmic ocean dried up and leave no trace
    I wanna dance with you
I see a sky full of the stars that change our minds
and lead us back to a world we would not face

    in this altered state
full of so much pain and rage
you know we got to find a way to let it go

    sittin' on the beach
    the island king of love
    deep in fijian seas
deep in the heart of it all
    where the goddess finally sleeps
after eons of war and lifetimes
she smilin' and free, nothin' left
but a cracking voice and a song, oh lord

    I wanna dance with you
i see a world where people live and die with grace
the karmic ocean dried up and leave no trace
    I wanna dance with you
i see a sky full of the stars that change our minds
and lead us back to a world we would not face
    we would not face
    we would not face
    we would not face
    we would not face
    we would not face

At my Grandad's funeral "In the living years" by Mike and the mechanics was played.

I can't listen to it, it makes me angry that my Dad is such a wonderful person and yet had to endure the abuse and mistreatment that my 'Grandad' dished out.

It was heartbreaking to watch my dad at his own father's funeral not even sheding a tear.

Eric clapton - if i saw you in heaven, and p.diddy feat. Faith evans - i'll be missing you both make me cry. They were played at a friends funeral, he was only 16 and died in a work accident that could of been prevented. Also james blunt - your beautiful and goodbye my lover. They were played at another friends funeral she was only 16 aswell, she died after being in a coma for a few weeks from falling out of the back of a ute while mucking around in a paddock. R.I.P.

I don't really, but one of DH's best friends in high school committed suicide when they were in grade 12. They played 'Everybody Hurts' by REM at his funeral, DH always gets a bit teary when it comes on, even now.

A very close friend of my sister's committed suicide a few years ago and The Ship Song by Nick Cave was played at his funeral and The Parting Glass (an Irish folk song I believe) was played at his wake. Both songs make me teary now...

The Lion Sleeps Tonight reminds me of my mum.

She died when I was 2 and I never really knew why it reminded me of her, but a few years I was talking to my aunty and it turns out it one of mums favourite songs and she used to play it all the time when she put us to bed.

Also, "you've got a friend" by Carol King: my mum visited me in a sleep one night when i was about 14 adn going through a rough time and this was the song she sung to me.
