    Hi everyone,

thought I'd join in here, but firstly having read all 12 pages of this thread, hugs to all that need them and a HUGE congrats to Dream girl what a great honeymoon surprise

So to introduce myself I am Nat, I am 33 DH is 39 and we have 3 boys between us DHs 18yo, my 14yo and our wedding present 5yo.

My DH was diagnosed with depression the same week I found out I was pregnant with our DS somewhere in this time we both 120% agreed a V was a positive thing as we hadn't planned children together but loved having our unplanned surprise and thought our family was complete, after the V life got very sad with DHs depression it was beyond any of our control and although he took AD he wouldn't get counselling or look for support beyond me which lead to me leave him and take our boys with me (moved to other side of country), LUCKILY, it was the wake up call kick in the pants to stop letting the D win and he sought help and 5 months later our family was reunited and life ever since has been AWESOME only for the fact we both relised that FAMILY MEANS EVERYTHING to us and we desperately want 1 more child together, so given that DH never felt right after the V he was keen to get a VR, he always from the day he was snipped felt wrong 'down there' not sure if it was medical or mentally but we got the VR done in Melbourne and it was a success he had a great count, his count dropped by the next SA but after investigation we found his low morphology and count drop coincided with him starting a cholesterol medication, so he weaned of it and his count went back up, but after INSISTING we get antibodies checked with his next SA (Drs all said it was all good didn't need it and not to get it tested) anyhow we found 97% IgA and 100% IgG antibodies spent months doing suppliments etc and final SA showed 100% IgA and 100% IgG antibodies so as I suspected the 11 rounds of clomid and monitored cycles the FS insisted we should do rather than the simple BT to look for ABs were a waste and we are now looking at ICSI.

Infact we are flying to Perth tomorrow (from The Kimberley) to meet with Concept fertility and see what we can do to have our dream baby and complete our family. I am soooooo excited and nervous about our appt, my weight makes me wonder if they will say no to treating me but hoping my food/exercise diary and letters from Drs will be enough to convince them I am healthy although heavier. I have PCOS and only since a lovely Dr that was visiting our town a while back put me on metformin (which normally makes me REALLY ILL) but suggested taking the metformin XR (extended release, only taken once a day at night) and it is working without side affects and I've lost 2.3kg in 8 weeks so I am sooooooo happy about that but hope the FS sees the whole picture not just the number on scales/BMI issue, because if she says no then my whole journey is over DH is supportive but I won't get him to another FS appt unless it is for treatment as it has been 2 1/2 years since we had the VR and this is our end of the road attempt.

I do not regret the VR and trying this path first because the time we have been TTC our lives have changed for the better and DH feels complete that what ever was wrong down there is now gone, but do wish our bubba was growing/here already...

ok that is enough of me.... hope your all well and your journeys end well with a bubba in arms soon

Dreamgirl, that is the best honeymoond surprise anyone could ever hope for. Congratulations! I am so very happy for you, I love that you have had Sucess. We met with the doctor today, he did a sample and there were zero sperm, after an ultra sound it was clear that dh has a blockage. Our only option is to consider either having the surgery redone or going down the IVF path. The doc seems to know what has happened and is confident he can repair it, again tried talking us out of the ivf path due to the damage it can cause to dh's tubes. I need to do some research and we will decide. We are leaning towards having the vr again. Almost been a year and we are back where we are, this is disappointing. Because I am 30 the docs say, you have plenty of time ! What men don't realize sometimes is that I have thought about being pregnant and having a baby every day for the last year, I am not sure how you are supposed to just turn that off.

2plus3 , have you heard of the success rates of is ICSI?

Hugs and wishes to all. Dreamgirl, have a wonderful honeymoon !!

no haven't heard the success rate will discuss it all with FS on Friday I guess, any info people can share I would be happy to know but trying not to over research things, I went nutso over studying things when we had the VR that I don't want to stress myself out like that again and will just take it as it comes, this is our only shot so wanting to give myself the best chance of it working.

Dream girl - woohoo! Finally some good news on this thread ...maybe there is something to the whole "Byron bay fertility thing"!

castle - big hugs to you... I can't really give you any clear advice re ICSI vs re-reversal, we've done both, but unfortunately no success to report yet... Good luck with your decision

2plus3 - welcome, I hope your stay here in limbo land is brief...

    xx

    Default Vasectomy reversal

Thanks ladies. I am still in complete shock and keep having to pinch myself. After trying for something for so long I was starting to wonder if we would ever get there.

Castle - sorry to hear the news, although glad the doctors know what's happened and have a solution. Wish you all the best xx

    Default Vasectomy reversal

    Hi Everyone

Just wanted to update you on DH's SA from 1 year post op. His count is up to 90million. We can't believe it has improved so much over the six months since his last SA. (It was only 10million).

Wow Dreamgirl! That is quite remarkable! How are you feeling? I have an appointment with a FS in a few weeks time. All ready to go down the next path.

    Default Vasectomy reversal

Hey Castle. I'm feeling ok at the moment. I seem to be a bit more tired than usual and a little bit of dizziness & nausea. I'm still so nervous cause we have wanted this for so long. I'm booked in for a scan Friday next week. Really want to see the heartbeat!
Have you decided what you are going to do?

    Default Vasectomy reversal

Please let us know how your scan goes!
We have decided not to have the reversal done again. We are going down the ivf/ICSI path. We are meeting with a fertility specialist next week and hope to get started in January. Ready to close the door on 2012, it just hasn't been our year. I am enjoying a break from the torture of the 4 week trying cycle, concentrating on getting super fit and healthy so I am ready to get on the next roller coaster.
I am not sure you are aware but VR have been hit hard by changes to the safety net. Reason being the doctors charging too much. I read an article slamming a doc or charging $9500. I thought, hey that's cheap! So that also annoyed me, especially when the doc tried the sales pitch gain.
Praying for a sticky Ben for you Dreamgirl !
