Default Is Madison really *that* popular?

People keep saying how popular the name Madison is but there seem to be lots more popular names around at the moment like Ella, Isabella etc.
I dont see Madison in the top 10 names for Aussie girls for 2008??

Where is it coming from that this is such a popular name?
    TIA

    I agree with you mumsie2be.

I havent heard Madison lately but i do hear Ella, Isabella, Mia and Charli quiet a lot these days.

I work in a supermarket on the checkouts and i cant help but talk to the parents of young kids and have a sticky beak at their precious ones and find out their names as im due in dec with a girl and dont want a "Common" name. (want my child to be the only ??? in their class at school)

I asked a primary school teacher too & she said its not popular at all & she doesnt have any Madison's in her prep year, although it might be better to ask child care workers..

I mentioned Madison before on here & was told by everyone how popular the name is & we def dont want a popular name.

I think it was popular about 5-6 years ago and people just tend to keep thinking it still is to be honest

I don't know any, if that helps

On the top 100 names of 2008 website it comes in at number 24 (Madison) and 25 (Maddison). I guess that is pretty popular in the scheme of things but it's not top 10.

I know of one Madison that's about 3yrs old then DD1 (10yrs) has 3 close friends. One is Madison and 2 are Madeline. It can get quite confusing especially since all 3 used to answer to Maddie.

I don't know about the other years at school but I do know there are none in Kindergarten at our school atm.

    6 !! wow - thats a lot !

Yeah I could see the nickname Maddi would be confusing with Madelines as well which is what my primary school teacher friend said, she doesnt know any maddi's but quite a few maddyns, madielines with nn Maddi.
